Your right, everybody has a right to protect their livelyhood. Thats why most of us on here do some pest control of some sort or another.

But when a professional sets a snare on a Friday and checks it on the Monday (or Tuesday in the case of a bank holiday) then even the farmers are sickened. If the farmers asks me to do the job quickly and efficiently I have to say "no, it's illegal".

This is the same government snareing badgers that has John Gormless as Minister of the Enviroment. The same minister who wants hunting and coursing banned and gave full protection to the magpie and greycrow.

Boils my blood. He's now saying we might have to cut the national herd as their farts are enlarging the hole in the ozone layer.

They really went at it around my county too last season - a right slaughter.

They were shooting and snaring them - a few cur dogs around got caught in the snares too but none of them killed.

A shame to see skips full of badgers  but I know farmers need to make a living too.

Some lads I hunt with who also farm got a look at the maps they use - EVERY burrow for miles and miles around marked on it!

Same down our way the last two years corkonian I think it was a 90% cull and they mapped every sett they culled so this year they have started to cull the deer all in the name of T.B. IF this dose not clear up the T.B. will they start culling rabbits next I know they have to keep this T.B.under control but it is a shame to see all this game just been killed there has to be a better way, if anyone other than the government was cough doing this they would get life in jail

Welsh Assembly Govt have recently approved a Badger cull in some "hotspots", in West Wales area. Don't know when it's gonna kick off, dont know if it's gonna be as effective as they think. Sounds like you boys in the Emerald Isle have had some bad times with it. Also sounds like we have similar arsholes in high govt positions over here as well !!

Keep your shovels shiny boys :victory:

Read in the local rag where I live about 6 months ago that they were gonna start a cull in the north. The local badger watch group had written a long letter to the paper in defence of old Brock, have'nt heard anything since though. But I'd say it's on the cards here too. Know of some farmers along the border that want them shifted as they don't want agriculture guys on their ground. I'll watch with interest. Thing is it was their own doing by banning the sport of digging them in the first place. It's seems a case of do as I say and not as I do. Good old governments.
