Poor girl, I think airguns are often treated more like a toy than a weapon I'm so paranoid with even my airgun its locked away with my shotgun safely away from my kids........

when i was 9 year old my best friend got hold of his dads browning 9m(dad was u.d.r)......was messing around with his little bro....shot himself in the thigh....in hospital for 3 months....huge scar it left....the parents were just lying in on a sunday morning....scott n his bro up to mischeif..as you do....accidents happen....but the dad never forgave himself for it....

only thing is, it only hurts the legitimate owners.

don't see many little GANGSTA'Z bothered about legislation.

parts of Manchester are like the wild west with gunshots everynight.

probably the same in all major cities

Over here, air guns are simply treated as Firearms. Period. A .177 Pistol is just that; A PISTOL. Same regulations apply as for a 9mm. And a .22 Air Rifle is treated like a .243.

 

And, if ye fire Anything stupidly? Ye stand to get Five Years.

 

Suits me. I was a Qualified Safe Shooter before I came here. Now I hold a major summit in my own head before touching that trigger!

 

But small birds are left alone here. Ye just Don't See kids with air guns. Shoot someone here? May as well use the next round on yeself.

I really wouldn't know about the historical situation, mate. But I came here fully intending to do as the laws of this land told me to. That's what they tell me about firearms. I don't question it. But, from a purely personal standpoint? It suits me fine.

 

Don't get me wrong. I'm Not saying we have it so right we've cured all 'problems'. Far from it. Barely a day goes past here without some Gangland fatal shooting down in the big cities. I don't s'pose Those hand guns are licensed either. But, here in the sticks? Like I say; Ye just don't see cammo clad kids cracking away at Jackdaws and god knows what, in or out of the breeding season, just to get bragging rights over a " Kill ". Nor do younger kids get shot.

 

We just seem to have an entirely differant Conciounse Collective here. Almost everyone I know owns guns. Yet nothing happens.

interesting................maybe these more stringent laws help the situation.......presumably the sentences are tougher?

 

or more likely......... down to the mentality of "kids" on the street wanting one upmanship on their peers.

 

we get no problems up here.............its very rural, and thats probably the answer, theres probably a sub-concious that has a respect and understanding, from days gone by,it has to be inbred i suppose??
