wife 1
went out on a small farm for a stroll with platoon, plenty of pigeons but could not see them until we were right on top of them and they flew off,a few maggies moving around but again, could not get close, decided to walk the lower tree lines hoping to see a few squirrels ,seen 4 but the first 3 went right on top of the tall trees and with the cover being so thick no chance of spotting them, walking outof the last field and we both heard the branches bouncing around in front of us,we knew it was a squirrel by the sound of it and we could see small bits of bark dropping down through the branches, see the branches moving but could not see the squirrel, then a head appeared, steve(platoon) took a head shot and it came down through the branches by our feet, will waitnow until the nuts are out tidy before we go back up this farm, good size squirrel as well and ferret is halfway through it as i speak, photo of steve out of breath after walking up the fields with the squirrel he is not as old as he looks by the way,he had 3 paper rounds and a milk round as a kid, aged him,lol Edited June 11, 2008 by wife Quote Link to post
4platoon 0
that was a verry close game there kev,but in the end we won on penalty shootouts Quote Link to post
wife 1
went out with platoon to pick up another new rifle to his collection, lol, the price was right was his excuse this time, its a rapid 17 mk 1,sights on it are simmons, old ones but do the job, although with in 10 minutes of getting home he was already getting a new set on them,it came with 1 magazine and a silencer,250 quid, while were waiting to meet the lad who picked it up for us we went for a walk to the bottom of a big maize field which borders a large wood,at the start of the field we seen a fox 150 yards from us cross the field with a crow in her mouth, she was 150 yards from us and in good condition, from where she jumped in the wood 20 yards on we seen 2 bunnys,we started walking that way knowing we would not get within range of them as we had no cover, they let us get within yards before they both hopped in the wood,as they hopped in 40 yards in front of us a squirrel came out 5 yards from the wood and stopped and sat up on his back legs,a perfect shot for the s410,steve kneeled down for this one and knocked it over,a few kicks from the squirrel and it was dead, second squirrel for the s410 to date Edited June 12, 2008 by wife Quote Link to post

wife 1
woke up this morning to find a rabbit placed on my back garden steps, looks like platoon was out with his new gun last night and the tracer, lol, then today he popped his head round the back garden again with a magpie, out of all the birds we shoot i always like to see the magpies gone, one of this years and put a stop to this one before it had a chance to any damage,on the farm he shot it i placed a larsen trap which i had off john.b and within a week i had 6 birds, looks like they moving back in again,a clean headshot as well, looks like he got his sights zeroed in,also i forgot to get dog food out for the lurcher last night and ferret food out,so cant fault the man,fed the lurcher and the ferret for me today, see what he can do later on as we popping out for a stroll after Quote Link to post

Keep at 'em! cheers mate,we been having a go these last few days, popped back out this afternoon for a quick walk with platoon, steve, seen 3 squirrels but only managed to bag 2 out of the 3,steve spotted the first squirel in a tree on its own,do you think we could see it when it moved,we walked round the tree about 5 times, walked back into the field 30 yards off, still could not spot it,just as we awas about to give up i spotted the give away tail,we both got a good aim on his chest area and counted to 4 and both let fire, second squirrel was sitting on top of a high tree,it could see us both but was not bothered,or was not bothered until a pellet hit it in the head,2 more squirrels for the freezer, back out tomorrow for another few hours so fingers crossed will have some more sport Quote Link to post
