Some nice pics there matey whats the black bird in the 3rd picture is that a coot or moorhen

its a moorhen mate, never shot one before although on a few of our shoots there plenty there,i only shot this to see what it tasted like, heard they dont taste to good and wanted to try it out,for anyone who does shoot one for the pot, best way to cook them is place in a pre heated oven, place a good size pebble inside the bird, once the bird has fully cooked, chuck the bird away and eat the pebble,it will taste alot better, lol, funnily enough we was out fly fishing today on a mates farm and the moorhens were within 20 yards of me,cant see the point really in shooting them as there no challenge, but if its shot for ferret food then fair enough, lol,or to eat if one can get used to the taste

Are Moorhens classed as a pest? Are they legal to pop with lead?

I have seen loads when fishing also Coots, but never thought of popping any of them

i would not say they classed as a pest myself, crows, magpies i say are pests, but each to there own and if they not wanted by a farmer or landowner for some reason then they classed as pests to the farmer, most of my farms if it not a cow or sheep,it a pest, lol
