What do you want to know?

If you have the Reason, Land, References, Security and send in the right fee, as long as you satisfy all of these and have no major criminal convictions then you should have no problems.

Depending on what rifle you want then you may be asked to have mentoring on a centrefire.

When 17 you can buy guns and ammunition and go out on your own from age 15.

can any one help me

Look at the last post by SS. Now decide wether you need a firearm. If you think you do then write to your counties firearms department for a firearms application form. They and only they can tell you if you can own a firearm.

BEFORE YOU DO ANY OF THIS. Stop making daft posts. Ask sensible questions and you`ll get sensible answers. Ask daft questions (can anyone help me, can anyone help me, can anyone help me) and you`ll get daft answers.

whats the idea with starting two posts, asking the same question, and getting impatient and bumping both,

if this was the "sit at home all day doing nothing forum" you could expect replies within minutes of putting your post up, but its not, its a hunting life forum, meaning alot of members will be out of a weekend when you put your post up, LEARN TO WAIT

PS, IM DELEATING THE OTHER POST/TOPIC, AS ITS SILLY HAVING TWO POSTS RUNNING

You have to be 14 years old before you can be granted a firearms certificate and must prove to the police that you have a good reason for possessing the firearm you wish to use, ie. a rifle. You will also have to show that you have somewhere suitable to use it. However, there is no minimum age for a shotgun certificate, though you are not allowed to use a shotgun without an adult supervisor until you are 15 years old. You

do not have to show that you have somewhere to use the gun or that you are a member of a shooting club. The police can only refuse to grant a certificate if they think you do not have a good reason for possessing a gun.

The licensing process is the same for youngsters as it is for adults. However, it is always a good idea to show that you have a supportive mentor a friend or family member who will guide you in your early shooting days. Support from your school can be very helpful but remember that many teachers are anti-shooting

Police forces are also looking for you to have some sort of experience with firearms and doing a DSC 1 would also benefit you or join a gun club and have patience as the gun club will only help you with a FAC application after a probationery period

Good luck with the application

I would not recommend mentioning doing a DSC as a) it is for Deer and B) the police will hold you to it until it is completed. They are insisting on a DSC in some cases for Deer which is against Home Office and ACPO guidance, they have been told to accept informal training as a good reason for a Deer rifle.

The boy seems to have no or little experience with Firearms and one definate way to gain experience and safety training is to sit the DSC or go on a BASC training course.

He asked for advice on how to make the firearms application easier thats why I said the DSC1 but he definately needs some training prior to being granted a FAC

He didnt ask how to get it easier, he just asked how to get it, he does have experience with Air Rifles and knows the land he intends to shoot over well.

I have to disagree that he will not get his FAC without prior training. He may well have mentoring on a centrefire for the first few months but there is nothing to stop him getting his Cert with no real experience of firearms.

If i need help or advice i`ll ask, and ask once. I`m sure to get an answer because i`m not acting like an idiot. Read the post by SS and go from there, i can understand you`re keen, we all were when we started but be patient, it all takes time. Good luck with your firearms quest.
