Thinking of applying for FAC

Recommended Posts

I'm toying with the idea of applying for a FAC for an air rifle. I've got some decent permission and could get references no problem.

However about 9 years ago i was accused of a quite serious violence related crime, which i hasten to add i did'nt do. This was thrown out of court for lack of evidence with no charges, but my sister in law is a copper and apperently it is still logged on the police computer.

Do you think i stand a chance or would i be wasting my time.

could be struggling mate.

plus...........the permission in question would have to be inspected.......to see if its viable.

what i would advise....is to phone your local police station and speak to the firarms officer...explain the situation and see what he says.............their normally decent fellas.

good luck mate

I think the land i shoot on is firearms approved because i know a lad shoots on there with a rimfire and he aint had his licence that long.

I'll give the fire arms officer a call and have the crack.

Thanks Sean.

Hmm, your sister in law, as a copper, doesn't seem to mind bending the occasional law i.e unauthorized access to the PNC for personal use. Any way, not to dwell on that one. LOL

However, I would have thought you could have checked that info' as a legit' data protection act inquiry any way

No conviction = no offense to declare (and presumably the prosecution offered no evidence & the case was dismissed)

Go for it, I doubt they can take the case into consideration.

it says on form previous convictions you havent been convicted so go for it mate worth a try i have 1 from 16 years ago hope it dont stop me from getting it

I've been on the GMP website and sent the fire arms department an email explaining the situation and i had a chance to view the form. The form states that all criminal convictions must be declared even those resulting in an absolute discharge.

Whatever happened to living in a country where we are inocent until proven guilty eh!

Good luck with your application mate.
