Yes, you can and as said above you need to join the Fifty Calibre Shooters Association.

The only reason you could have for one of these rifle in the UK would be target shooting. There are only a small number of ranges which are approved for the use of .50 BMG, one of which is Sennybridge in the Brecon Beacons.

Out of interest, do people who own those calibre rifles need extra security compared to other calibre rifles?

dunno john but they sure as hell need extra money to pay for those big fu**ing rounds £5 a pop i think.

Big rifles??

 

I have a Brno ZKK-602 in .458 Lott... does that count?? I didn't need any extra security for it.

 

Great fun to shoot though!! The rifle only weighs 8 pounds, and boy does it rock you when it goes off. I don't shoot it much (£6 a pop), but it surprises people who haven't been exposed to firearms. They never expect it to be so loud, or to recoil so much!!
