when you turn it on first it should flash 6 times,if you turn it on again within a minute it wont flash.

when it gives 2 or less flashes when you turn it on you only have 20 hours left in the collar.should do about 250 hours normal use.

think turning it on and off often flattens the battery a bit( i did the same when i got mine)

the normal range with them is about 40 yards, nine shows 1.5 to a B+f but, but that makes it more accurate to any movement and fine pinpointing than the B+F. a small movement on the ortovox collar shows as a bigger movement that the B+F. so you'll be right on the dog

a British expat. on terriercentral was good enough to translate the instructions on the ortovox transmitter from German to english for me

Switching on the transmitter.

Turn the switch towards the "Ein"position,( "Ein"is "ON") keep turning untill the switch stops, in the end position the switch is locked, which means that the transmitter can not be accidently switched off, in this position the switch should have moved slightly upwards.

When switched on, the light next to the switch should blink 5 or 6 times, this indicates that the transmitter is sending a signal, this transmission will continue after the light goes out. This can be checked by the Ortovox hunderetter/emfanger,( Dogsaver/reciever) With the reciever switched on you can hear a definate signal.

The number of times the light flashes when you switch the transmitter on, is also an indication as to the state of the batteries, if it flashes 5 to 6 times then the battery has its full power, with a full battery the transmitter should work for about 250 to 300 hours, with a weak battery, when you switch the transmitter on if the light only flashes 2 or 3 times and the light does not burn so brightly, then it is recomended to fit a new battery.Although the light may only flash once when you switch on, they say that the transmitter will still work for 30 hours, but I would definatly not recomend this as our experiance with this sort of dog finder is that as the battery reaches the end of it,s life you tend to get erratic readings as to where the dog is.

Attention please. If you switch the transmitter off and then almost immeadiatly switch it back on again, you cannot then check the condition of the battery, if you switch the transmitter off you must then wait for 6 miniutes before You switch it on again, if you switch off and then on again imeadiatly then the light will not flash or only very weakly.

Switching the transmitter off.

Press down on the on/off switch and at the same time move it towards the off position Maybe I should have told you before but the German word for on is "Ein"and off is "Aus" With the switch in the Off position, you should be able to move the switch towards the Battery (Batt.) position.

Battery changing.

Put On/Off Switch in the "Aus" (Off) position. Press down on the switch, and push switch towards "Batt" (Battery) and turn untill switch stops.

Do not suddenly let go of switch, this to prevent damage to the on/off switch. When changing the Battery, make sure that the + pole is is next to the on/off switch, make sure that the word "Batt"is pointing towards the ledlight and the ingraved arrow on the casing. Turn the on/off switch under pressure towards "Aus"
