bird 9,861
They are xs NOT pure Bulls, there is a massive differnce between the TWO Bullxs have been around for years, i saw somein 60s. I had two, good with kids+ dogs. Its just a name, there lurchers end of story. And lurchers of any x make good pets and ive had them 25+years , even if they work still good temperament's. To me a lurcher , what ever the x as to be the temp of all the breeds of dog known to man BIRD Quote Link to post
Guest bigredbusa
hare , can you tell me what the make up was of your bullx , pm me if you want . ie: what was the original breeding of the sire / bitch used. my first cross was a angel round other dogs / kids/ people and i havent heard of too many man biters. dont tell me ... your more of a hancock man these days Quote Link to post
bird 9,861
Hare, sorry about that mate. but i still think a lurcher what ever the x is still better temp than a ped dog. You have to watch any dog with kids, hope young'un was ok. BIRD Quote Link to post
Missie 1
I have never heard of any bull x lurchers biting people but i'm not as experienced as a lot of people on here. Any dog can be a stock killer, lurchers tend to have more chance of catching stock at times but i've known collies and labs to kill sheep before because they were never stock trained. At the end of the day any dog can turn at any point. A responsible owner knows their dog and should train it as they see fit. I trust my dogs implicitly but that doesn't mean that i'd leave them with my daughter unsupervised. With dogs of any breed you have to use common sense and I don't think the bad press for bulls and bull x is deserved. Quote Link to post
top terrierman 90
i have two bull crosses and i keep mine for hunting and i do not trust any of my dogs terriers or bullx hounds with kids there not pets full stop.but the bull crosses are 100 per cent with stock and other dogs. MATTI 34
the only difference being, when a bull cross goes for some poor child or person, it does not stop at just a bite or 2, they crunch none stop!!!!! they can kill other dogs quicker in a kennel fight in most circumstances aswell. personally, i dont like the cross, but thats just me, each to their own. becuase its bull cross it will bite a kid dont be so stupid !!!! id trust my pair with any child good for you, im just giving my personall experince on the matter and opinion, as i said, each to their own. when you say personal experiance ''HARE'' do you mean you've seen a BullX attack a child or any other person?? and how many dog's have you seen killed by a BullX?? Why not just say the cross is'nt for you rather than make them into monster's, i know it;s your opinion but bull-breed's are under the spotlight at the moment even more so than normal, and don't need more enemy's. All the best. MATTI Quote Link to post
leegreen 2,151
people like hare tarring every dog, im sorry if it seems that way merlin, but im just giving my experince on them. i had a bull x greyhound a while back, raised it from a pup with my kids, he was great wee dog, came from very good foxing lines ect ect. one evening, 7 years ago, my nepfhew called round to have a game of footy with my son. they were having the craic ect, the bull x was in the garden with them. my nephew started clapping his hands, the dog ran up to him and nearly took his arm off, it took 3 of us grown men ( work mates) to get the dog off. the poor lad had to have the arm cut off, due to it being badly crushed to bits, i will never forget it. i had the dog put down. the dog, was the most freindliest dog going ect, never ever again... that sounds a bit heavy, how old was the boy, why did you not mention that a the start of you topic you may have got a better responce. threbb 0
why do bull crosses get so much flak!!!on here it is quite silly realy opinions please Both Greys and bulls are easily managed dogs in the right hands. When you cross them there is no diffrence. Personally I think people knocking other dogs and crosses is a bad idea because in most instances they havnt kept that type themselves because they dont like them. Working dogs should be kept as working dogs and a care should always be taken where children are concerned no matter what the breed. When you read about some of these people having there kids attacked you sometimes wonder if they should have the right to have kids never mind keep dogs. Quote Link to post

"hare" that is a very misfortunate thing to happen to anyone , least of all a child ........ my wife has been attacked by a dog some years ago . she was walking along a field minding her bizz , when a dog came running up from behind her and jumped on her back pinning her to the ground trying to bite the back of her neck , luckily for her she was wearing a leather coat and that saved the bite scars ... and no before you ask it was not a bull x ........ it was a deerhound x collie/greyhound ...... but hey that's ok lets make some excuses for the dog . perhaps he did'nt like leather coats , or was it because my wife was whisttling tom jonse's delila ..... a misfortunate happening ...... i won't trust anything without bull in it Quote Link to post

I dont want to sound clever after the fact and im not critasing you for anything but I do think that people who have these working dogs should treat them as a working dog and not a family pet. Dogs and kids can be tricky. Remember what you use that dog for and at the same time keep in mind that the dogs has little respect for children. I think in most cases they see them as less than equals. Quote Link to post

Guest lurcherboy2008
i dont see how people say that bull x's are dangerous in any kind of way or a time bomb, iv seen a deerhound hang off my mates bull x's face and the bull x jus let it and howled its tits off didnt even bother fighting back, that night when they were both out tho the deerhound took about a minute to kill a fox while the bull x killed 1 in easy 10 seconds both dogs caught them single too the bull x is a very very heavy dog hes a half x you could put him round any child any livestock and hes great (THE FOXES WERE CAUGHT IN 2004) Quote Link to post
