So an hour and a half from home we arrive at the waters edge,rods set up,fish showing everywhere,and a trout lake all to ourselves,it looked like it was going to be a good night,everything was going hunky-dory,till I heard JOE say............."Oh f*ck"

Yeah,he had brought a fly-box all right,but not THE fly box,this one was filled with mackerel feathers,shit,i am a dry-fly purist,f**k I was well p**sed-off but nothing ventured nothing gained,so we stuck on a 6oz weight and a string of mackerel feathers,belted it out,and began a rapid retrieve...........BANG...BANG...BANG........You could feel the fish hitting the feathers........Full house

Highlight of the night was watching a young badger from maybe 8 yards snuffling along rooting out worms oblivious to our presence even though I walked over to it

Low point was losing a guesstimated 15lb rainbow 2 feet from the bank I have had an 18lb'er from this water,and know they go into the mid-twenties but when I saw that fish last night swim off..........................

It was,we only fished for 30 minutes to be honest,I am still awaiting pics of the Chess-fly especially daphne,heres one of mine,I call her gladys

I call my fly Gladys after Gladys Nightingale,sister of Florence,not because she was a famous nurse like her sis,but because of her all pervading fishy odour which seeped from the folds of her heavy linen skirts,and reminded soldiers returning from the crimea of a heavily used parisian whore-house,I think mayhaps feminine-hygiene was low down on her list of priorities? :sick:

Never ridicule a guys fishing methods AG,we were just discussing last night the merits of ledgering halp a mackerel on the bottom,or using some of those 7/0 lumi-hokkais in the lake to lure some of the real monsters that lurk in the depth Then joe pointed out it might just be easier to knock the padlock off the wheel,open the sluice and empty the water But i guess that would lose us our permission so its back to the old mackerel feathers I guess,wow,I can feel another fishing trip coming on soon with old Gladys

Sorry chaps but have been busy with a little project this week. Will try and get Daphne and Chester up and on show tonight However im afraid i told a small untruth the other day Daphne is in fact not THE original Daphne as she was lost to a Cuda in the Caribean a couple of years back

Mackem no need to jump to conlusiuons mate i aint laughing at your methods especially if there doing the job and catching you fish. Im just very suprised as ive never

seen or heard of lake stocked trout going for feathers.

Small untruth,big untruth,it all adds up to the same thing Chess old fruit,a blatant distortion of the FACTS!So now your trying to substitute the original Daphne for a ringer,an imposter,a FAKE?Chess,I have tried to keep my trout-fishing posts 100% accurate,and re-told them as the events unfolded,warts and all,but what would happen if I did the same as you?What if I ever manipulated the facts a little?You see what I am getting at here?It has to be 110% accuracy and veracity at all times Chess,its a good job the old RAINBOW-WARRIOR himself Leegreeb no longer shows his face,that slight untruth of yours would have him turning in his grave

Sorry for being snappy AG Its just my kids hamster is giving birth and there seems to be a complication,my diagnosis is its egg-bound

As for the rod mate,its the Rods'R'Us special I always use,served me well has this kit,but remember one thing AG,its not the size of your rod,its how you use it

Its ok mate,anyone comes up with a new or unusual method of fishing its obvious they are going to get some stick because someone misunderstands or doesnt agree with their approach,can you imagine the first guy to go dynamite fishing for example?Must have had skin like a rhino to deflect the flak he probably got And all because epople just dont understand
