Lapua Mega 155gr 6.5?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I shot a blue wildebeest with my 6.5x55 using a 160gr Hornady bullet loaded to 2400fps. The bullet broke two ribs going in and one going out and stopped in the opposite shoulder.

The core and the cup separated - the buck didn't go very far and I would not hesitate to use this

combo again, I just wanted something a bit stronger.

I now bought some 155gr Mega's and would like to know if anybody used

them before, and how did they perform?

Cheers

That is what I wanted to hear!!

Thank you!

few years ago I run a test on factory loaded 6,5x55 cartridges and 155 grain mega was realy great. being not a bonded bullet it surprised me a lot. it was one of a few bullets that i couldn't never have a core -mantel separation even shooting at hard dry paper with 1 inch hard wooden board in front of it :o .. it is realy a tough bullet but , it works even for shooting roe deer very well. good luck brother in 6,5x55 :D . nice to hear that 6,5 x55 is even used in Africa.

If you cut a Mega projectile down the middle and file it smooth, you can see that it is constructed like a extra tough version of the Remington Core-lokt. Perhaps this explains why they are so good! Would be hard to beat for Wildebeast & Kudu! How did you find the Norma loads in your test Dan? I recently bought 40 rds of the 156 grain Vulkan for red deer in New Zealand. Cheers :)
