410 on fox?

Would anybody here use 410 on fox? If you do, what range/shot do you use?

Despatch in the main but once shot a fox that trotted past me when doing the squirrel dreys, he was about 7-10 yards away.

P.S A friend who is into his reloading , loaded some .410 shells with SG's stacked on top of each other, like firing a RPG through a pea shooter.

I have only used one to despatch foxes at the end of a dig but not at range it not humane for the job.

410 slugs if your shotgun can shoot them well are plenty for fox . it will knock them down like Thor's hammer

I agree that they would certainly do the job but we would have great difficulty getting them for fox over here, they have to be a condition on a Firearms certificate and most police forces wont issue them, except for "practical" shotgun shooting.

.410 folds nicely into my coat when i'm out with .22lr...22 not allowed on fox in this neck of the woods! Also .410 good to squirrels overhead when bunnies are slow.
