..... to be honest im looking for a job in a few field's at the moment im doing sheet roofing and if i work 4 days a week earn £220 cash in hand but i need to one day go threw the books and start a career that will lead me somewhere . i also am going to be moving in the near future to the coast maybe banffshire depending on how a few things go . well anyways i want to get into trade not a construction trade but something eather pest controle underkeeper sort of thing i have experience working on an estate but without going to college i cant seem to find anything . now after looking for a little over 3 years i have decided im going to struggle to find a job as an underkeeper now so the only other sort of thing im realy into is food iv always fancyd butchering or fish mongry and in a small town/village there is always going to be a demand and a place for both and being something i would enjoy i thought i would ask on here since there is quite alot of people clued up in this section of the site who might indeed know someone looking for an apprentice im looking out about me and im still looking for a job in pest control and underkeeping but at what point did anybody say it was wrong to keep your options open ?

anyways thanks for the reply hope this sum's it up .

cheers scar i know how it must have looked posting in both sections . the only reason i didnt post in the gamekeeping is i have done in the past a few times to no avail . handed in a few cv's today round the local butchers even though they said they werent after anyone its something else trying to get a decent trade nowadays plenty work if i wanna be a labourer but you gotta stop that one day and id rather stop now and get a trade than weight till its too late . i think there are some courses available to learn how to butcher so once im working if it isnt in the trade i can get the relavent qualifications in my spare time and then shouldnt strugle to get a job as they are crying out for time served butchers but not willing to take on a trainee round hear its like hitting my head of the wall no matter where i turn the now .

I'm a butcher by trade but haven't butchered in a few years (money's better in the construction industry, although that's in trouble now) and the only butchering I do now is venison for friends.

When you walk in to a butchers shop you should see a friendly, clean cut face of neat apperance. In reality it's hard work.

The customers always right is a saying you'll grow to hate and on a warm Summers day running from a hot sweaty shop in to a cold fridge and out again will give you the flu for sure. Plus cuts, bone splinters and meat under your finger nails.

But if you like meeting people and working Saturdays you might like it.

My advice would be get an apprenticeship in a busy shop who kills their own. Ask around about shops that have a record of producing TRADESMEN.

That way you'll be a butcher and not someone who sells meat.

The shop I did my time in was infamous for mistreating apprentices. The boss actually tried to kill 2 employees. Both were stealing. He beat up one and tried to drown the other in a barrell of pickle.

But out of that shop 15 lads finished their time and opened their own successfull shop.

Also the boss was into Bull mastiffes and Pit bulls so I got on well. LOL

Best of luck.

cheers neil my mate is a butcher well training to be but he ses there aint anything going and if he hears of anything he will let me know he does the lot barr killing them as far as i know he has videos and photo's of him doing it all i think it would be a handy thing to have under my belt as the sort of people i want to associate in the future will be small holers and the like so it will always be a way of making friends and getting a job in any small town or vilage i end up moving to plus i want to have my own small amount of stock eventualy a few porkers every year and i might even have a beef cow a year aswell plus the usual chickens quail etc so its the sort of thing im looking to get into anyways and to be honest im just sick humfing around lumps of wood or metal and fafing about with saws grinders and tech guns every day had some cracking cuts and bits of metal stuck in fingers elbows knee's and in my eye just be good to do something that i enjoy well hope i would enjoy anyway.
