Guest bigredbusa
hoping to get the court done soon and get him back in with them but will wait untill they are running about . thanks for the swift reply Quote Link to post
The one 8,511
I try to keep the jill away from them for a fortnight or they just go back trying to suckle from her and i like her to dry off as i think it drains her suckling kitts for 6 weeks mate Quote Link to post
will.f11 24
Ive got a jill and her last years son was castrated. He has lived with her since (just him and her) but i split them up when she had kits. how long until he can go back (castrated not vasectomised) he is really docile and I cant think of him harming them but im not sure? The one 8,511
Its just the same thing the kitts MUST be big enough to look after themselves or move away from the hob because if he dont try to hump them he might try to kill them so 6/8 weeks and watch them for a good couple of hours when you put him in Quote Link to post
will.f11 24
the same with a castrated then. I bought them as a pair. Quote Link to post
martin 332
I don't take mine out,and I have 6 kits two weeks old now and the Hob is still in with them. Two of the Jills are looking after them as well.................Martin. Quote Link to post
stubby 175
Ive got a jill and her last years son was castrated. He has lived with her since (just him and her) but i split them up when she had kits. how long until he can go back (castrated not vasectomised) he is really docile and I cant think of him harming them but im not sure? as the above post said, I too had my castrated hob in with 3 jills and 12 kitts, he was only removed when he started getting too motherly and moved the kitts every 10 seconds, only you can tell, as they are your ferts, no one knows them better than you, so try introducing them back together, but keep a very close eye out Quote Link to post
sue 1
i usually put him back when they are roughly 12 weeks old they are big and tough enough to stand up to the hob, plus they try to suckle from the hob if they are to young Edited June 4, 2008 by sue Quote Link to post
The one 8,511
The only problem i had was my hob was sleeping on the kitts and squashing them so my son took the jill and kitts out and put them in a wee hutch Quote Link to post
will.f11 24
My hutchs are connected with a tube so there is 2 sleeping compartements I will try him in there now. and update you how it turnes out Quote Link to post
Guest SJM
Id agree with johnnyboy, keep them seperated until the kits are a decent age and robust enough to withstand rough play Quote Link to post
will.f11 24
Ive put them together and watched for an hour. They are fine and he just slept in the differet nest box. I hve put some bedding in the unused nestbox and the jill has moved all the kits in there, Is thi normal. and is it ok to change e bedding in her original nestbox out? Quote Link to post
