BSA Essencial 6-24x50 AO

Depends what you're going to shoot with it.

If you're planning to shoot field target competition with it then it's not overkill

if you look around you can pick up the scope new for about £100 so on the scale of things it's not big money.

Looks quite a long sope so you might want to check it's ok for your gun & doesnt overhang the breach if you put a sunshade on it etc.

The extra magnification can provide you with flexibility if you're not sure what you might want to shoot in the future.

On the other hand if you're just out for a bit of vermin control, you could spend £50 on a "good enough" 3x9x40 with AO & IR & have enough left for a lamp or enough pellets to last you the rest of the year

It's whatever you are comfortable with mate, I've had them from 8-32x44 down to 6x42 and just recently gone from a 6-24x50 AOE to a 3.5-10x50 decided to down size for quick target acquision on my HW100. The Simmons I currently own are'nt even Mil-dot they are 30/30 reticule and work just fine.

Good luck

Coney.
