skycat 6,173
pics That's a cracking pic! I wonder what mine would think of boar: with what I've seen of her so far I can't imagine she'd be a bailer LOL Though obviously she's never met anything like a boar for size, so who knows if the desire to kill would be tempered by a bit of common sense when it came to something that big! I'd describe her as a concrete block on legs with a gator's head Quote Link to post
weasle 1,119
i work 1/2 greyhound 1/2 airdale. just finished first season. she has same looks of your pup strong head big bite. curly tail, lighter obviously. stands about 23".by 4 months finding big ears sat tight older dogs had gone past. dont like to start my dogs till a year old but like to get them out every day learn how to cross the country. she was a night mare nose just two good no matter were you took her feilds you never go to hunt this bitch would find. after a long run while other lurcher happy to lye down catch breath this bitch come back get a rub and nose down again. have to put her on lead to stop her hunting.how ever she soon learnt this was not what needed on lamp. what im saying is your on too a winner. if you could keep stamina and nose with the extra speed of 3\4 grey 1\4 air you would have a beast indeed! skycat 6,173
I wonder what mine would think of boar how old is she right now ..? About 16 months Erik: she's seen a few things larger than rabbits: and got stuck straight in: I thought I'd put up a post about her first fox but that might have been on the Airedale forum: out mooching about with a friend and gun: terriers and Dill put a big dog fox out of brambles: friend got a shot in but not a very good one LOL so injured fox dived back into brambles. Few seconds later a mighty holler went up in the bramble and when I got there the Airedale had despatched the fox: funny to see how mad she was, kept on crunching and shaking the carcase until she was knackered, long after the little terriers had been put back on the lead. I let the Airedale enjoy the moment: she'd got a little nick on her muzzle and I'm guessing the holler was a war cry: she'd never been bitten by anything before. Hopefully that encounter will fill her with enthusiasm for hunting the red uns next season. What I like about her too is that whilst she is non stop hunting, I can call her in and make her walk to heel even if the little terriers are still hunting: she doesn't like it, but she's so biddable its amazing. Plus the fact that she is dead steady with other dogs, friendly and laid back...........but if a strange dog shows any signs of agression towards her she's ready to fight back, not that I've ever let that happen as one word from me and she's back at my side: very good guard dog at home too.
