Sighthound 49
there is only one place for rabbits with mixy that is the bin sorry Sue but why? Unless they are really emaciated then it's not worth feeding them but if not I always feed them to the ferrets, myxy poses no danger to ferrets at all. Quote Link to post
sue 1
i dont believe in feeding anything that has something wrong with it to another animal Quote Link to post
Tallyho 181
Ive heard humans can still eat a mixy rabbit, as it wont do you any harm. Quote Link to post

stubby 175
there is only one place for rabbits with mixy that is the bin i dont believe in feeding anything that has something wrong with it to another animal so as mixy is easy to detect, you'd bin it, so how do you check for anything else that rabbit may have, but not be showing signs of, before feeding to your ferts sue mixy cannot be passed onto ferrets or humans, granted if the rabbit was covered in mixy, and looking a sorry state, it may not look good to you, but it'll taste the same to the ferts, do you think it the wild, a predator animal, say's no I wont eat THAT RABBIT it's got mixy Quote Link to post

stubby 175
thats what im getting at sue, mixy is about the easiest to detect in rabbits, yet that healthy looking rabbit, could have something lurcking inside it, I know theres different views on lengths of time rabbit should be frozen for, I personnally like it to go in the freezer for at least two weeks, before being used, but for the sake of the head and liver that you may want to bin, its an awful waste binning the rest Quote Link to post

howdimiss 0
[fed mixy rabbits to my ferts for as long as i can remember, cant see the problem unless there skin and bone and then whats the point anyway.but as stubby said always freeze them.i do that to all my quarry be it magpie or rabbit etc. is just another way of lessening the chances of disease. sue 1
i always freeze for 3 weeks to be on the safe side ,each to there own i guess you do as you feel fit ,same with me i dont eat anything what looks dodgy so i dont expect my ferrets or dogs Quote Link to post
