Can someone confirm or deny that myxy rabbit is perfectly safe to eat? Cheers, Kev yes , but why would you want to ? I have never bothered as long as the rabbit isn't rotten, it get's used, but one of those "now wash your hands....has it got a use by date" types was blathering on about it being unsafe and I wanted to see the opinion of others. Great site by the way, but prefer my spuds mashed with spring onions and a raw egg. Kev

Guest Ditch_Shitter
" Oh, You're F***in Kidding?! " was what I blurted, out loud, into this room when I spotted where this Thread was placed, mate. Having said that and read the above though, may I state, catagorically, what no one else has yet actually put their hand on their heart and spelled out? I have Personally Eaten them. Verdict? Wasn't in any rush to try it again, frankly. I had three rabbits that night. Two myxied - eyes well gummed up. Can't remember the particular condition of them otherwise. I skinned them out and did notice the slightest green hue to the flesh. Maybe that's what people are refering to as their 'veins' maybe looking a bit iffy? What ever. All three, one pink, two green, went into the pot and were duly seasoned and cooked. And when I came to eating them, there was absolutley no question in my mind when I popped a bit of Myxied one in my mouth. It Always sent a sort of charge of mild bitterness to the back of my pallette. A munch of fresher, 'pink' flesh bring a feint, happy smile instead as I chewed the preferable meat. So, there ye have it. A direct comparison from one who Knows. I'd imagine, if taken on their own, people would put the taste down to length of hanging, or just assume that's rabbit for you? But in the same dish? Unmistakable and not the best. I've long since eaten and handled so many f***ing rabbits I can't face even the thought of the stinking things now. But eat another Myxi one? No Way On This Earth! As Chilli said: " Why would you want to?! ".
