David James lurchers

saw afew d jameses dog decent but as you say no world beaters and not fast but durable , and as for not useing top class tried and tested stock not being cheecky if that was the case i wouldnt go the breadth and lentgh of this country to reproduce what i have i think ,and well hanckock well mass producer end of story, to get top class dogs that produce regulary you need to only breed with dogs of there ilk or with the same bloodlines to keep on going saw five collie generaitions in my breeding and saw not many collie types with the same attitude for the hunt or kill etc and yes it does help if you no what your doing with your dog and no the breding of them i disagree with mass produced untried dogs as you never no what you get

I have a David James bred dog who has served me well for many years and is still doing a bit of work allthough hes old, grey and going deaf. He is the sire to Breeze's blue bitch in the picture. I paid £65 for him as a pup and he was the best £65 I ever spent. David James is an elderly man now so I doubt he works his dogs as much these days but I think in the years gone by, he would have done a bit more than Hancock :icon_eek: My dogs never let me down over the years, Ive taken everything with him and he has only had a couple of very minor injuries in 10 seasons of work.

Whin / Samba ..... The Drum dog wasn't D. James bred , but was put over a DJ owned / bred bitch to produce my older bitch Purdey. Drum was a decent animal, (altho his sire would of knocked spot's off him in the field) saw him work several time's, but has T. Nixon admitted would probably had been a even better dog in somebody's else's hand's due to Tony's ill health at time's not allowing him to get out has much has he would of liked.

Samba .... the video was done has a kind of stud promotional thing, ( well edited ;) ) and I supposed it worked has he covered several collie bred bitches.

Drum.....

Mind you,...I've featured in a few DVDs myself that could do with some editing.... :icon_redface: :icon_

Chalky .... your not wrong there :D:D

Samba .... Would that of been out of the 1st litter ????, has Ellis used Drum twice on the "FLY" bitch. I did hear that the resulting dog pup's from both litter's threw fair size animal's, whereas the bitches levelled out to around 23/24". In saying that, even litter's further down the line that were bred more recently come out the same

Whin .... That dog would of been A. Godfrey's "Sam" ..... litter brother to my old bitch's Dam.

What was the Collie dog that you had .... sire to Lana I think ???? Do you have any pic's ???
