gwhite80 0
Think it might be out of my budget, do you think they'll be up for a swap? How do you explain that on an application? Big Foxes? Quote Link to post

dytkos 17,793
About 25 years ago, a mate of mine had a 2 bore blackpowder wildfowling shotgun made by Alan Myers, gunsmith of Preston. This gun had a 42" barrell if I can remember rightly and fired 5 and a half ounce of shot. I test fired it at a tree stump on the Solway Firth and ploughed a huge furrow in the ground about 2 thirds of the way towards it, it was that heavy! Big Jim got several geese with it though and it was supposedly the biggest hand held gun in the country at that time. Cheers, D. Quote Link to post

I have an old copy of the Shooting Times which has a few double 4 bores and mentions two new 2 bores which were in production at the time by Alan Myers. Its fascinating that these guns were commissioned in the first place, I would love to fire a 2 bore, my 8 bore fades into insignificance in the face of those monsters. SS Quote Link to post
