Hello my name is Larry E. Galloway Jr. and I am from Chicago, IL (U.S.) PLEASE any and all info. or advice is WELCOME!; I am looking to construct a working terrirer group/hunt pack of 3 to 5 animals Patterdales, Wyndum, Plummers, Lakeland, Jagd, Fell are my breeds of choice and say a couple of Airedales PLEASE see my post in the Members Gallery "All Show & No Go?" to see pics of theese breeds. I will have access to lots & lots of acres and there will be many, many rats, oppossum, raccoons, coyote and rabbits! I have an uncle who lives in Belgium, I will be visiting him and looking to purchase some dogs during the fall season around say November 2008. I want to make some good informed decisions when selecting breeds, so any and all advice would be appreciated especially about novice sportsmen, young new dogs, nutrition for working terriers, raising young working terriers, etc. Thank you in advance.

Warmest Regards

Hi dingo. a long shopping list!!!!! I m sure you will enjoy the site

Thats just the breeds that have caught my attention with their ratting abilities&hunting skills(according to the more experienced ratters & video i've seen) and my eye because... well because damn don't they just look noble and loyal and tough, etc., etc.! I was just using this list to hopefully get feedback from members; I could never have a shopping list like that just planning on making picks from those breed types to start my working terrier group. Also why did Pritch say "forget plummers,ATB Pritch" ? Is this truth or more of a personal sentiment? I want to know I thought they looked like tough little "buggers"? Please Pritch you gotta tell me more! You've got my ear mate!

Thanks for Everything Good People!!!

HI Mate... Looking on my experience in the UK, my opinon is that if you are looking for a general all round terrier Jack russells from a good proven working strain would be your best bet, as most Jack russells tend to be sensible bayers, even though you do get the odd hard one. It depends on the end result after you have got your quarry, if you are looking to dispatch it yourself or if you are looking for the terrier to dispatch it, in that case you are looking for something a bit harder, then I would suggest in investing in some good patterdales. I have terriers of both breads but at the end of the day it is horses for courses and each to their own opinon. Hope this is of some help... lets us know how you get on!!
