Little Butch 16
http://www.cookeryonline.com/Game/Preparing%20Game.htm Thats for pheasants but its all the same really. Skinning much easier and quicker but if your going to roast it your better off plucking them and leaving the skin on Butch
BlueCoyote 0
we have three methods... shoot them (we can, we have the room to do it), wring their neck, or chop it off... i PREFER shooting them.... but chopping is faster in some instances. as for wringing their necks.... well i dont like it the way my mom does it... that is grabbing them by the head and giving them a swing like you were cracking a whip. it doesnt always work and takes too much practice which means the bird suffers. if i'm in a hurry i'll stand on its head and pull... breaks the neck quick like. as for cleaning the b*****ds..... i hate cleaning birds... HATE IT! i have done it, but have gotten frustrated with the gutting process... my hand, small as it is, cant fit in the cavity, so i end up with this little... meat box that cant be opened without cutting into it.. which is risky, right? dont want to cut the intestines open... i cut as much meat off as i can, then give the rest to the dogs. i'm still a novice though.... still have a few things to learn. i've always skinned mine. the bulldogs like to play with it.... in a few more weeks i'll try my hand at cleaning ducks. they're bigger than our chickens, so maybe it will be easier to work with lol i'm not paying a butcher to clean a bird. maybe if i had several and no time i would do that. but i prefer to do it myself....
