Its easy to say stuff after the fact, but the main prioritys to try to get the kits through the next 24 hours at least, if you have to hand rear then litle & often is best at this stage , its not an easy task & you have to not flood them with milk or you will effectivly drown them.

Mothers milk comes at the right consitency & temp , you cant get that spot on when hand rearing, all you can do is your best

Good luck

you say me and my son are not fit to keep any animal we try to help the jill buy taking her to the vets ok poor thing died but in MY VEIW IVE DONE ALL I CAN to help her. i put this subject up for addvice and got some good out of it

What you should have done Madam/sir is find out how to look after the animal before you bought it.

Then read a little more about it BEFORE you Tried to bring some more unfortunate Ferrets into

Your sons care.Yes i am saying that you and your 35 year old son are not fit to keep animals.

cat milk is no good, they will be dead in 48 hrs, get a foster home or a rescue who knows what they are doing, thats not being nasty, its a fact, the animals will die if you dont, its simple

after this is all sorted, Id suggest whoever of the pair of you is using the forum name wiz1234, to keep that, and the other to make a new screen name, as its a bit confussing as to who were all talking too

and as it seems, the above quote, was made by the father, Im sorry, but saying "Ive done all I can to help her" you should now say "I'll do all I can to help him" by reading up on ferret husbandry with you son, so this sort of mistake is not made in vain

Im sure you will learn from the expierence mate. :censored: least you have had some sound advice from some.Reading some of the comments you got was just plain rude.We all make mistakes every single one of us.To prove my point alls you need to do is look :censored: any town or city :censored: the wknds.Maurading hordes of viscious youths.Who im pretty sure their parents think they did a damn good job of rearing them. All the best with the remaining kits.

put them up on photobucket first, if they are too big, or if your using a digital camera, put it on the lowest resolution settings, it makes the pictures computer friendly, and smaller in size(pixels)

Just read all of the above posts. I have been a ferret rescue for a few years and had hundreds in the process as well as selective breeding my own as workers. Keeping ferrets and breeding are two very different things to achieve. Bread and milk is a big no no. Cat biscuits are fine and it's the protein within the feed thats important, what to feed them on depends what you are doing with them. As someone else said the purpose made ferret food contains everything they need.

Am sorry to hear that you lost your jill and good luck with the kits. Lots and lots of handling is needed be prepared to be bitten A LOT!!!

If I can be of any further help please do ask.

Cheers

Kate
