Coney 3
Is it just me or over the last couple of weeks all I've heard is stories about some poor kid getting knifed up or even worse killed, what the feck is the matter with people these days I've never heard so many stories about knife crime. Does anyone else agree?? whats the police doing to prevent crimes like this happening?? is sentencing too soft for people who are caught carrying a knife?? what can be done to deter people from carrying knives??. It just seems these days you don't know if a cross word or wrong stare is going get you a punctured lung or something much worse, what do you think??
tynetyke 0
have noticed it more on the main news mate but here in the north east its been happening almost weekly its getting worse the stabbings/slashings seem too be over nothing absolutely no need for it.i have a young son and often wonder how bad its going to be when he's older. Little Butch 16
I agree with you mate but a sentance for carrying a knife ? Too much in my opinion. I know plenty of people who carry knives on a daily basis for the right reasons Butch
Geoff.C 0
It's very worrying when your teens and early 20's kids go into town, as you say coney, kids are getting stabbed for the most trivial reasons. Some clubs/pubs are starting to use metal detectors on the door, so all customers can be checked for weapons. Bugger it, I've carried a knife since I was in short pants, there is one in every outdoor coat, but I have never used one on a human. The people who post on here, probably mostly carry a knife, they are a tool to us not a deadly weapon. There is a really sick and almost sub-human element growing in most towns. Until we can instill respect for the law and our fellow man in these people, I can't see the situation improving.
SEAN3513 7
i think the problem lies with the following: they've nowy else to do, they cant work hard to pay the mortgage because they've no jobs and if they have they can't afford to buy a house. they've nothing. the younger generation are f****d.....big time.......i also think that knives are to easily obatained. i bought off ebay a bowie knife with a 2" wide 9" long blade came home to find it sticking out of the letter box( which is 200yds from the house, on the gate adjacent to the road) no one asked my age.................scary!!!!!!!!! and worse of all its become a measure of social acceptance.................tougher sentences???? i dont know????..............maybe the parents need to be held more responsible?? whatever the reason............somthing needs to be done and fast!!!!!!!! i've mentioed recently in another recent post.........i think we are heading for a situation like the first MAD MAX film.......!!!!!!!!!!
Coney 3
I think I need to clarify a point in my original post, when I say tougher sentencing for those caught carrying a knife I ment those caught carrying a bladed weapon without just cause. I appreciate many of your good selves ( myself included ) indeed carry a knife when we are out hunting etc and could probably justify it if pulled by Dibble, what I do mean is some person in the middle of a city center late one evening with a knife tucked away down their sock etc?? poacherjim 0
its not rocket science! people are carrying knives because others are carrying them.the only way to stop it is with a dererrent, there is no need or excuse for carrying a knife to the pub on a saturday night, if you pull a knife in a fight you are a spineless piece of s***e and should be dealt with accordingly which to me should be a charge of pre meditated attempted murder, not assault or any other bullshit charge, as for metal detectors in pubs what is to stop some scroat carrying a piece of sharpened plastic or similar, let the punishment fit the crime we are just too scared of upsetting people in this country, just look at the utd and chelsea match in russia the only reason there was no trouble is because people knew if they acted like pricks they would be dealt with accordingly. nothing to do with well behaved fans, good policing or any of the bull***t reasons given it was all down to one thing FEAR, we need a government with bottle!!! you see all these programmes on the tv about scank rat car thieves taking a car having a dozen coppers chase them, the use of a police helicopter and when they get caught they get a ban and a 50 pound fine to me thats B*****S work out all that it has cost to catch them and make them pay it back, if they have no money make them sweep the streets until the debt is paid in full and then after a full days work they may be too tired to misbehave RANT OVER!!! gnasher16 30,469
In my opinion its just one more example of how pathetically weak our society has become.....i remember being a young un and anybody caught carrying a weapon would have the piss taken out of them for months by their own pals.....carrying a weapon was seen as weak and meant you didnt have the balls to use your fists, feet or whatever else it took.....things were just as rough back then as they are now but folk did have a little pride about themself unlike now where this twisted reversed society makes a young un think his mate is tough if he DOES carry a tool......madness ! leegreen 2,210
Always carried a knife and always will, never felt the need to take one with me wilst out drinking or clubing, never felt the need to stab or cut someone and believe me I've had some rows. I've always liked a good old straight punch up. "Cowards" is the word that springs to mind. Knives have always been easy to obtained, I have loads always have had since the age of about seven or eight. Maybe the problem is no one has ever shown them what knives are really used for ? I once got pulled with a leatherman in my pocket, the copper said to me "oh ye, whats this for" I laughed and said "how long have you got"
Running 7
i agree with what has ben said so far i think it stems from them having no bottle for a one on one cowards

It just seems these days you don't know if a cross word or wrong stare is going get you a punctured lung or something much worse, what do you think?? yes it getting alot worse just recently, long gone are the days when fights were sorted with your fists fairly 5 on 1, i dont really see how the police can prevent people carrying a knife, the way kids think now its do them or i get done, there carrying a knife so why shouldnt i sort of thing, unfortunatly innocent people have got hurt, think people expect to much from them really and think they do a bloody good job considering, sentances should be made a lot longer and the prison system needs changin so there sentance isnt like 6months at butlins skegness, they should be made do some hard graft during there time inside to pay for there own imprisonment , dont see why honest taxpayers should be forking out to pay for there crimes,
paddy.t 5
i know all too well what happens when people carry knifes.. long story short: few weeks ago was at a mates party, all good untill about 11:30 when a car pulled up out side and 3 kids in hoods and mask's jumped out ran into back garden and slashed 2 of my mates one of then got slashed 4 times twice on face one on arm and on chest, the other got one slash down his face. one mate lamped one of the kids with a baseball bat but he managed to get away. police turned up hours after they had drove off and did little to help and never even interviewd us only the 2 that got slashed. f***ing useless pigs

Guest WILF
Its not up to the police to do a dam thing about it, its up to society............and we can all start by taking a long hard look at ourselves. Do we listen to so called "gangsta rap", do we allow our kids to play violent computer games, do we encourage them to have any dealings with the church, do we lead a violent or drunken lifestyle, do we tolerate druggies, minor criminals, cannabis,...........the list is fecking endless of whats "OK, not my business" in this fecking broken country. The whole place needs taking back 50 years...........before we were more "enlightened"..............we are all so fecking modern and tolerant that we have modernised ourself back into the dark ages. But as usual, its because the old bill arent doing enough...........is it feck, its every feckers fault and the sooner we start taking some responsability, the quicker we will be on the road to a cure..........
