joshmc 0
they are little bstards to shoot, i used to shoot at them from my window alot but if the window was closed and then i opened it they would fly off. .22's arent too good for penetrating feathers try a pointed pellet or get yourself a .177 they have higher velocity so penetrate better. the .22 i have got now isnt powefull enough to kill them stone dead so if i ever get the chance il shoot them at the top of the wing so it cant fly off and then let my cairn terrier take care of it lol them and rats are the only thing i dont mind not killing with one shot because both of them are scumbags, magpie's got at our bottles of milk in the morning a couple of times when i was a kid so i had to go without cereal before school, il will never let that go and soon i am getting a bsa tactical so there is nothing down for them Quote Link to post
joshmc 0
if you do kill one leave it where it is for awhile as it will act like a decoy, another one should fly down to investigate it and then you can take that one too Quote Link to post

DO NOT USE POINTED PELLETS! Theyre rubbish and unstable in flight, absolutely useless. And im sure .177 dont have higher velocity they are just more accurate .22 has more power than a .177 im pretty sure. Quote Link to post
BBB 7
a legal limit 22 will flatten maggies stone dead at upto 5o yard's with a heart shot . i no i have done it hundred's of times. nee bother. magpies are pretty flimsy bird's so there's no need to head shot em. Quote Link to post

It don't matter what you think of your quarry, you should be aiming to stop one with one shot, even though it don't always work out that way. Quote Link to post

BBB 7
you need both power and accuracy to stop quarry cleanly... but even then injuries do happen fron time to time .it's just part of shooting. and not just with airgun's either i'v seen nuff bird's injured with shot gun aswell . but like some one has already said you must respect all quarry and give it a quick humane end.
