ok so don't laugh but I'd like to try my wolfies on rabbiting

Really don't laugh. They have an amazing turn of speed on the breed and I have known 2 that have taken Stag (preban and on their own land and not planned they see deer and they are off after it, tut tut)

 

I have 9 Northern Inuit dogs. They do have a high prey drive on them and I was looking at maybe taking them out and trying some long netting. I know a couple of my studs used to love ratting on the farm, they'd pounce the straw just like real wolves.

 

Fingers crossed, I know my big lad Keano took a serious interest in the rabbit holes while walking.

They are very fast dogs and Keano is built like a Deerhound with the legs he has on.

Northern Inuit Dogs are, well, they were bred to look like wolves but be fantastic family dogs.

So I want to give them purpose, I know they are highly intelligent, fast, high hunting instinct but fantastic family dogs (well all my 9 are). I personaly believe the breed is being wasted.

Poorly sick Hubby has Man flu and he won't come out with me to check out for good rabbiting spots so i can go ask the appropriate farmer's permission. I love late night walking with the dogs. Any body out at 3am tends to keep well out of the way of 'the mad woman walking 2 or 4 wolves at night cause they must be too dangerous to walk in the day' lol but fact is I just love being out at night, amazing what you can see and thankfully I have never come to any harm on my own with the dogs.

Yay! Got permission off the farmer. Was really nice cause he's seen me with the kids and knows who I am so he was more than happy for me to go rabbiting.

 

Now I need to know when hubby will come out with me! lol

i got 3 lurchers as well . would of been happy to help yous out .

 

dogs should manage long netting my lab x staff (pet dog) catches rabbits so yours shouldnt have a problem

Really can't wait to get out now. We are gonna use Keano the big lanky lad and my hubby's staffie x collie 'Jazz'.

Kids have fingers crossed it'll be rabbit stew for tea one night this week.
