F*cking Belter!

post-3041-1211737434.jpg

Dean's van is in for attention so he got bored the other night and that technicaly inclined brain of his started musing. Seems he found a pair of extendable Pruners and had an idea!

Spot of welding and messing about later ....?

He brought it over today. I slung my old hat over the bracket, to save the woodwork of The Beast, and sat there with the cross hairs unerringly resting on the top of a 100 yard distant fence post! :icon_eek: As I said to Dean; " Mink at 100 yards? He'd be f*cking dead! "

Light weight. Perfect for sitting shots. Adjustable for kneeling shots. Steady as a bloody rock!

Get myself sat down behind a hedge with This thing? Anything that shows itself within 150 yards is going down! How can ye miss with something like this holding ye aim for ye???

It's breaking my heart now, of course. When I finally get me Harris 13 - 23 swivel top, I'll be able to take prone shots too! But, my god, has This given me a taste of things to come! Destruction On The Bog! :clapper:

Huge vote of Thanks to our Dean O'! :toast:

Harris? Like anything else around here, mate; As and when I manage to out live the wranglings and stone walling of the f*cking british permanent civil service and those c***s pay me what ever pittance they'll push it down to! :realmad:

Perhaps some time this Year? It's only been a dozen or more so, who's letting stupid notions like optomism come into it?

Just a swift up date on this one; This evening I went for a short recce and, obviously, decided to take my 'pod with me. I only walked up to the river and back, just looking around and taking the air. But it gave me a notion of what she's like to carry.

Initially, in my left hand and with The Beast in my right, it wasn't an experience I'd choose. But it was no drama either. This thing really is quite light. But I found I was concious of having both hands tied up, which I don't like, if they're not both on the rifle.

Then I had an idea. I slipped the legs of the pod over the belt strap of my leggins. Voilla! I walked a further three hundred yards without a care in the world! The pod never once became a noticable weight. She never so much as hinted at getting in the way of my leg. Actually made very little sound either.

I'd originally said to Dean that I may try her on my 'Hammer Loop', which I wear my trapping hammer on. I can foresee the metal on metal there may present more of a noise issue. I don't know about how she'll hang with relation to the back of my knee? But a few turns of black tape should lessen any noise issues.

God knows when I'll be able to get a proper Harris then. But, untill then, I feel happy to consider this prototype 'O'Reordan Rifle Rest' a perfectly natural part of my 'Patrol Kit'. I'm sure that, within a couple more experimental walk outs, I'll consider forgetting my pod will be as unthinkable as forgetting my customary three rounds
