The sire of my bitches is Lyndhurst Shep who's also sired by Cracker and the Woolstone bitch, which is the dam of my younger bitch, was sired by Krypto out of another Lyndhurst bitch. I've heard excellent things about Krypto and his pups both for farm work and as hunting dogs. My young bitch is coming up for eleven months now but has still not had her first season. She's barely 18" and looks like a mongrely Manchester Terrier. My bitch was 4 years old when I bought her,I was lucky I.M.O. to get her and am very pleased with her work in the field.Anyone interested in a pup can see this bitch hunt if they wish,I have to be honest and say that when Ruby is too old for work I will probably get another pure kelpie to continue with while she retires,maybe breed a litter of pure kelpie's from her in the future who know's.I will say that as an allround hunting partner she is excellent and although she lacks the speed to catch rabbits in a straight sprint she makes up for this in other ways Quote Link to post

Neal I have done the same mating only using a Kelpie bitch and Greyhound dog not the other way as he did it so there may be differences in size but then again maybe not,time will tell and it will be interesting to see if there are any differences in size or not. whin 463 Posted May 27, 2008 Report Share Posted May 27, 2008 youve used a diffrent type and size of greyhound as nobbys lad is a class act , so maybe theyl throw diiffrent , ive bred some lurchers in the past useing collie crosses to grade A bitches who were so muscled the pups ended up fliers but with good feet etc you maybe end up with a flier like the father who can rock on at all sorts hopefully Quote Link to post

Quite simple really ...................firstly the bitch was a maiden and the dog is a proven stud.Also the man who owns him has bred a few litters in his time and thus has a bit of knowledge about it which ensured I had a trouble free mating which is what I was after.It's not only about the speed of the dog either,good feet and joints are important and this dog has been free from any such injuries.At the end of the day you pick what you want and I chose what I thought was the best for me simple really....... whin 463 Posted May 28, 2008 Report Share Posted May 28, 2008 balldoch shows you howmuch you no about running dogs ive always went forthe best greyhounds that suit the type of work i do, feet attitude agressive to prey biddable i see traits of the greyhound cmoe through in my lurchers even tho generaitions away ,only use winners mate like in boxing or any other sport and well thats about it Quote Link to post

There have been several rabbiting lurchers created from various mixtures and combinations of Kelpie /Collie blood, but not many actual first crosses.
