They are breeding all year round now i think , Ive not noticed any more rabbits to be fair i think nature has its own way of leveling out . If we have a real severe cold snap that may kill them off ? who knows ! . Some of the lads like woodga chalkwarren or pegangun who have been afther rabbits for a good few years may well notice a pattern occuring with our topsy turvey weather system in this country of ours .

over the last few years we have been killing heavily pregnant rabbits as soon as dec and have bolted rabbits at least 6 weeks old. :( These rabbits were taken on what i would call lowland farms where the weather is not quite as cold just like the end of the season when people are stoping around the end of feb we can get another 6 weeks by going to higher ground where the cold weather has meant the rabbits have held back there breeding pattern untill the weather warms up.

I would say though with out a doubt that rabbits are now breeding all year round we have found that if a lot of rabbits come to one place myxie will allways follow and only the strong survive just natures way IMO good hunting all woodga

I went out to do a quick warren the other day and bolted 4 rabbits to purse nets or so i thought. When i gutted them i found two of them to be pregnant one with three that were of a large mouse size with a dark skin. The other had four that were all pinkies and not very big. So all in all i count that as 11 rabbits not bad for 30mins lol

Although i am no expert as i am new to ferreting but the bunny with three must have been cvery close to dropping her young! :o in early jan!

Last winter, I had to stop mid February as things were getting a bit unsporting....... I was bolting youngsters a few weeks old and also like some of yourselves dressing heavily pregnant does :( All this at a time when there was snow on the ground!! I would definitely agree with Woodga, they seem to be breeding all year round...
