in my opinion, the irish hare is no push over. all them famouse saluki crosses in the uk, would not catch one here...especially in west of ireland, where the feilds are like gardens and surrounded with forrestry...the irish hare, in its own ground, is harder cought, then the brown hare in uk.....i cought many brown hares in uk, feilds are so big out their....its a sad thing, when a lad here gets led on by all the hype of saluki croses ect in the uk, goes over and gets one for a five figure sum, only to watch it get made a fool of over here, with our small feilds and strong all year irish hares...fact....

you need a very fast clever dog here, with very good strike...

different dogs for different situations if the fields are like gardens then why didnt he get a whippetxgrey????????instead of a salukix

i bring my salukis on by useing them for bushing rabbits and on short distances a rabbit can as fast as a hare running from cover to cover clearly it takes time for a saluki to build the speed and are made for bigger fields but they can run small feilds

and if they aint no good over there dont take them over

people have said these dont lamp well ive never been let down by them

but if there fields are so small and hare as hard to take as brown hares what dog could take them without following them into the woodland

i do think its the land thats important but a good clever dog should be able to work all land

Plenty of up and at em saluki types not all box their hares a lot of the lads i go out with are trying to breed the faster types but keeping the wind thats needed for big land.

With the way its going now you want a dog thats quick on its hare saves being on the land to long especially slipping out of the motor.
