I spent $100 this morning. $40 for an office visit plus treatment (a jab to rehydrate him, fecal etc and so on), wormer and antibiotics.

vet said he has a horrible hookworm infestation for this age and if i can keep him alive for the next few days he stands a chance..

when i took him home with me yesterday he was willing to eat from a bottle. i thought he was just a runt... getting pushed around by the bigger pups, so i felt sorry for him... :icon_redface:

NOT THE CASE! by the time evening rolled around he crashed big time, stopped eating and cried all night. this morning he was still alive(i stayed up most of the night with him trying to keep him hydrated with the only thing i had... kitten formula!) and, while he wasn't willing to eat he was willing to live(looking around, crawling about, taking notice of people and sounds) so i practically flew to the vet first thing this morning.

The last time i took a pup to the vet was for similar reasons... only i didnt have the money for treatment and it wasnt my puppy to treat. so i just asked the vet to do what they could for it, and if they would find it a home since i couldnt afford the treatments and the owner was unwilling to even try.

- anyway -

What i found out from this lovely vet was... you CAN worm a bitch while she's pregnant, using over the counter meds. the only thing you have to worry about is it not working and you have to go buy something else.

depending on the brand you get the dog may still die of worms. or in the case of this pup... if you wait until they're weaned to administer dewormer you run the risk of them not making to four weeks.

anyway, wish us luck..... if he makes it i'm keeping him.

i know many of you are thinking "drown it" .... well, no! :tongue2:

if anyone has any helpful advice (to help him LIVE) i'm all ears.

he's in a basket in the bedroom, i have a heating pad on one side of the basket, towels on top of that. i've taken chicken noodle soup and blended so i can feed him via syringe. plus added some meat baby food(more iron in it than the soup) i've also got some electrolyte stuff, though i need more.... the vet said any sports drink will work (Gatorade?)

so thats the plan right now.
