comanche 3,027
ive started to pre-bait 4 swims in case i get beaten to it by some other angler. im baiting from my canoo so as not to make a well worn path way to my swims, not that i expect anyone to carry all their gear to the spots i have choosen as its about a 1.5 mile walk from anything that resembles a road or path way. So i will be taking all my gear including my dogs to the swim via tha canadian canoo as i live 60yrds from the river that takes you to the swims. most anglers fish this stretch from boats, mostly pike in winter so i feel im in with a good chance of hooking a few. Landing them may be a differant story as i have been told that river carp fight like tyson on speed. Next time im up there baiting in will try get some pics of the features i will be fishing too but untill the season starts im keeping my presance on the banks to a minimum because like i said, im a secretive kind of sod and i dont want to be sharing my swim with anyone other than my lurchers this year. Two n a half weeks to go.Good luck! Quote Link to post

mole catcher 1
Well i finally had the chance to have a go at the river carp. i was lucky enough to get permission to fish a boat yard mouth with its tidal flow and plenty of over hanging trees. I used to fish here years ago but lost it due to idiots breaking into boats instead of just fishing so a total ban was put in place. I had a short 24hour session with 5 fish being taken (and a few missed) these are the 4 that weighed around the 10lb mark give or take a bit the top 3 are commons and the last is what i believe to be a very pale fully scaled mirror, as unlike the commons you could feel each and every scale. What are your opinions? I did have a nice mirrow of 15lb pluss but im looking like a propper rodney in the pic so its not getting posted. A few members im talking with have seen the pic so no, im not telling a fishermans tale. Over all im very pleased with the results as its my first attempt at river carping and they were all caught on home made boilies, so in my book its a result. Even if there not record breakers Quote Link to post

comanche 3,027
Rakish-looking ,streamlined carp.Love the custom scale pattern on the mirror.Reminds me of a Sebright bantam .If this is the result of a "short 24 hour session ",what could you have caught in a "long" 24 hour session? Bet you had fun Quote Link to post

Bet you had fun It was great fun, they fought like lions and had my heart stopping a few times. Best thing was being away from all the sheep of tackle tarts that abound the lakes round this way. as arnie once said 'I will be back' Quote Link to post
