Guest Leveller
Ok after much research, emails and phone conversations I've sourced a quality set up for £270 The Ortovox Patroller is £175 Technical data Function: digital + analogue (three antennas) Frequency: 457 kHz Range: 70 m Battery: 2 x AA LR6 Mignon 1,5 V Transmitting: 300 h Receiving: 40 h Weight: 247 g Size: 130 x x 25 mm Warranty: 5 Features: Digital display with search direction arrow The Dog Transmitter is £73 Technical data Frequency: 457 kHz Battery: 1,5 Volt Batterie LR01 Transmitting: 250 h Weight: 40 g Size: 50 x 42 x 19 mm The collar is £7 but the Jury is out on that it looks a bit feeble to me but for £7 it's worth buying and if it isn't any good you'll need to source a sturdier collar Post and Packaging from Germany is £15 and delivery is around 7 days. The total is £270 to your door The B & F kit is £328 I don't know if that includes postage either if it does then that's a saving of £58. There are cheaper trancievers but the Patroller looks a good piece of kit. Quote Link to post

Bryan 1,362
Selwyn, Ortovox do an off the shelf ,complete kit for £225 kit ,but you can get a better box for a few pound more http://www.jagdhunde.de/shop/index.php?cPa...cec4b50ba25201c thats a fair saving or an extra collar or 2 for the same price as a B+F. the ortovox collar is simple to attach to a nylon collar just thread it through a loop on the back or else it's easy to stick to any collar with cable ties. Compared to the B+F in the Field. range ortovox 45 yards, B+F 70 yards both waterproof ortovox- mechanical switch, B+F -magnetic battery life similar size -ortovox is half the size both are as accurate to dig to, if anything the ortovox is more sensitive to pinpoint for me the B+F collar is better in most aspects, except size. and a £10 in cost which isn't worth talking about. but if you can have a digital system with 2 locater collars for the same price as a digital system and one collar? F.R. 2
I'd love to know for sure and not just "I heard...". Is it a sales ploy by B&F or not? How do we find out for sure? We own a set already and love it, I just don't like the confusion on the matter? There's a Pieps self test that tells you the software version. You hold down the two bottom buttons while turning it on I believe. It would make sense that if it was bought from B&F they would all be the same if it has special software. Quote Link to post

jaykay 2
Here is where i bought my barryvox pulse. Got it for £190 on special offer. I took Matulkah's word that it was good and he was dead right. My friend has b&f and he prefers mine. Its easy to use from the very start. You might have to make sure to specify that you want the pulse as they sent me out the opto 3000 first. http://www.climbers-shop.com/ Quote Link to post

I'm using the orthovox collar. I made up a hard plastic cover and use a leather collar. I tape it up too but only because its a habit i have from my old deben. Quote Link to post
Guest Leveller
Ebay to the rescue! feeling pretty chuffed I've just bought a BCA Tracker DTS Avalanche Beacon Transceiver for £112 So I just need a collar now I'm thinking even if I don't get one of the other types mentioned on here that there may well be one or two secondhand b&f collars around when the new one comes out Quote Link to post
Guest SHOT
reading up on it doesnt sound a bad box look forward to hearing how it performs. Quote Link to post
