I was told that there is a software package difference in the Pieps bought from B&F versus anywhere else

nice tits :icon_redface: ................ i mean, there might be all the software in the world in the B+F but it makes no difference to the numbers that come up on the screen, side by side, with a dog underground every Pieps box will show the same numbers.

I'd love to know for sure and not just "I heard...". Is it a sales ploy by B&F or not? How do we find out for sure? We own a set already and love it, I just don't like the confusion on the matter?

Anything on the 457 kHz frequency will work but that unit only has one antenna and the experts in the field say you should have three on an unit to find buried objects with relative ease .

If you didnt allready have the B&F system, would you consider this other system selwyn?.............and your right about the hickory

i guess it would be like useing the old deben boxes again only you get a 40 metre range.

still a far better option than useing anything debens come up with ive read since on other boards lads are already out there useing the pieps freeride model with the b and f collars with no problems. cheerio deben

You pay your money and you take your choice, I don't know anyone who has bought a B&F and is not satisfied with it, far superior to the Deben and the risk of losing a dog far outweighs the cost of the equipment and if it wasn't for the lads at B&F putting a lot of time and money into the system, no one would be looking at buying these boxes anyway, so inadvertantly they're saving anyone who goes down this road a few quid, quite nice of them eh!

A bit off tangent I know, but it get's up my nose a bit (only a little bit) when I hear folk slagging Deben off, sure the B&F is far superior and sure Deben monopolised the market for a long time, until B&F put their backs into a new product, but Deben are still responsible for saving the lives of a lot of terriers over the years, that said, I've lost dogs to ground the same as a lot of folk, and it makes you wonder just how many terriers would have been found up and down the country had the long range sets been out sooner.

Mammothgear.com have run out of the collars and they reckon Ortovox have stopped making them  I'm waiting to here back from the UK supplier though so all is not lost yet and the unit will work with collars from B&F so there's always that road to go down if all else fails.

Seems to me that B&F now have the monoply on terrier findrs, they have high prices and refuse to sell any collars to anyone that has'nt bought a box from them!!! But I'm sure they're reading this and before long it will be 1 box 1 collar.

i use ortovox for 3 years, 100percent sattisfied, i tried several boxes, mammut barryvox opto 3000/ dual antena/- great piece, never have a problem, mammut barryvox pulse/ the best box for me/, dsp pieps, ortovox x3, d1, patroller,... and the latest S1. all are really good for earth work, i tried BF no difference, better to say Pulse and S1 are better.

little about soft in BF, hahhahahahha, it s antena that works on 457Mhz no soft in the world couldn change the way of waves of same frequency. remember one thing all those boxes i mentioned are build for saving humans so....

Hey Leveller, thats not quite true, whats happening is that the US importers aren't getting anymore in because there were alot of skiiers in the states complaining that dogs would be found before people on the slopes!

The Ortovox D1,transmitter is about half the size of the B+F one, but only has a range of about 50 metres, but is more sensitive to pinpoint. they cost about 100 euro so there is not much to choose between them on cost.Ortovox have been making them for a long time for the european market(long before the B+F) so there is still some choice and competition in the market.
