Hi willf11 gortex is a man made waterproof breathable material made using special techniques.. basically the reason it is breathable and waterproof is because the stich is made to small for water molecules to penetrate but large enough for oxygen... as oxygen is smaller than water.. hope this helps Quote Link to post
