u lot are lucky every day i have to walk to school like 3 miles there a few miles to and from lower and upper school and 3 miles back! grr lol

 

My kids never got lifts to school they always walked even in the rain , they didnt want to go mind :laugh:

Wouldnt mind giving running a go :)

Can walk miles, and not bad at cycling either.

Never been any good at running though, too slow and cant get far before im f****d :(

Got any tips starting out ?

well i am gasping for breath after my little bit off a run but i am sure it will get easier :thumbs:

well...one thing you should do is get a proper pair of shoes..the easiest way to do this is to look at your wet footprint after you get out the bath..go to a good sports wear outlet..usually an independent shop i have found in my experience are the best.then describe your footprint to them and they should be abl to provide you with a good shoe..I have used ASICS Cumulus for several years now..You can expect to pay around £80 for a decent trainer..

ASICS are good for me but i have also worn new balance,Saucony, northface and addidas with equally good results..

Its good to run..you cant beat the soltitude of pushing yourself over tht last hill :icon_redface: Good luck and keep us posted

 

I used to run in DMS.... I hear you blokes can wear trainers these days? :tongue2:

 

I don't know if you are running cross country, but the best shoes I've worn have been Adidas. I switched from them to try Nike and despite trying about 5 different pairs, I've never had a good one from them. I'm currently using ASIC like Stiffy but I find my New Balance better in the mud. The best mud shoes I ever had were my Walsh's with the square studded soles.

i was mad keen on running 2 year ago 7miles everyother night ,wish i kept it up 3 stone heavier just starting to get back into it but its hard as motivation seems to have gone out the window but ill keep plugging away and hopfully it will come back as if you enjoy it your half way to being fit

stabs You old sweats always had it harder lol :clapper: longer faster heavier hotter wetter I have heard them all my favourite was the legendary brecon marathon of 93 which turned out to be a buckshee 5 miles round aldershot then to the pub :clapper:

I strangely enough also wear new balance in the mud..I bought them at chatham market and they are the shizzle.. :victory:

Well i am at the acorn stage , but i reccon with some good pumps & a decent pair of trackie bottoms i will i will be ok, its just i feel so alive when i have done just that little bit , even if i am buggered at the end of it, seriously its great i didnt think any kind of excersize could be fun :laugh:
