Woodie's or Road Hackers, Stig? If wood's, and ye have such an expance that ye really can't just sling some ultra light net over it - we did that on the Game Farm. Covered about an acre of laying pens - Then maybe good old flight line shooting, with a 12 bore, from a well constructed hide would be ye best bet. Archie Coates is said to have written some of the best books ever concerning how to. That'd tell ye about decoy patterns. Still seems like a hell of a fuss and mega time consumer.

For road hackers? Sort yeself out a Feral Pigeon Trap. Couple of plans featured at the top of the Trapping forum. Take ye pick and get cracking.

And can ye seriously not net, it, mate? Put some tall posts in down the middle. Bit of batton nailed across. Drape netlon over those and it keeps it off ye head. Best thing is, it'll be there for ages. Cheap as dirt. Thread bailing twine between the sheets edges to make as big a cover as ye need.

I mean, honestly; For the time that'd take to set up, it'd be a lot less labour intensive than sitting around with a gun or Peregrine. I'm a Pest Controller, remember. I don't feel the need to kill Everything. I can thus see that Proofing Out measures are often actually a lot simpler than destructive ones.

Hang about with a gun and they'll come as soon as ye back's turned. Proof them out and they'll just realise they're beaten and will go bother the guy next door - when he's given up standing guard with his gun to have his tea!

Went to Home Depot (our DIY) and they sell "bird" and "deer" netting ... it was quite cheap, I think about $10 for 3x100 foot roll. Seemed easy enough just as Ditch suggests
