Help! How Do I keep Pidgeons Off My Vegetable Patch?

Recommended Posts

I have a raised bed surrounded by low level chicken wire to keep my chickens out.

Unfortunately it does'nt keep the pidgeons off and they've pollished off five cucumber plants.

Any tips would be appreciated to how i can scare them off?

Cheers

Shepp

You could get a plastic decoy owl/hawk of somekind. These can be obtained from some fishing tackle shops or pest control supliers.

May set you back around £20 but should work.

Once you have got one keep moving it around, once a day/two days.

Make sure it is visible i.e on top of a shed roof or set on a fence. Dont put it where its going to be overgrown. Or you may as well just give me £20.

Another method is to errect a simple caine frame around your plot and cover it with plastic netting.

Hope this helps

what is nelton? My patch is about to go in and I'll likely have the same problem ...

Simply dirt cheap, purpose made plastic netting. Sling it over. Job done. Two minutes.

Why all this " Lurk in ye window, dressed up like the SAS and blast away " shit, I'll never know.

Kids with more imagination than most people have time on their hands, I guess.
