Irish Lurcher 1,013
Due t the good spell of fine weather we are experiencing at present it was decider to pack the car and head to a wee lake that holds really large. The session was planned for the latter part of the day, we arrived at the lake just after 2.30 The Lake In Question holds a huge head of Trout, which results in the large head of high double figured Pike, including pike to over 30lb, best I know from this water went 33lb on the scales. We had high hopes. First run went to macker, a cracking fight ensued, and the pike put on a display that the red devils would be proud off, from back flips, to forward summersaults, the whole works was put on for us, a cracking fight that put macker and his tackle to the test. This Pike went 13lb on the scales. Second run went to macker, a screamer of a run that sent macker out of his chair faster than a hound after a rabbit; a stunning little Pike was landed and returned. Third run went to macker, this time the Pike took the bait and made no effort to move off, at last we thought a big hen had taken the bait and was confident enough to just sit and eat, a Pike of 8lb was landed and returned, no big Pike this time, but none the less the Pike was stunning. Fourth run went to macker, at this stage I was beginning to think that my bait had contacted some illness, anyway I landed the fourth Pike for him and it was returned alive and well. We fished well into the late evening, we plan to visit this water again in the very near future, while we did’en connect with the bigger Pike that inhabit this fine water the enjoyment of just been out fishing was the dogs. Did I catch any Pike??? No I was just there to land Mackers Pike. Quote Link to post

Guest Ditch_Shitter
My sister and her bloke are mad keen on pike fishing. I'm trying to get them to pop over here for a bloody well earned break. I have a couple of lakes nearby they can try. No idea what's in them as I've never even approached them myself and no one round here seems concerned with them. I don't suppose there's any trout in them, but there's fish in the deeper ditches here abouts. Hope, as and when, they can have as much fun as at least Macker was there Quote Link to post
