This "report" went out on national TV here last night on RTE's (state broadcaster) flagship news magazine programme "Prime Time". Please take note of the incredibly anti legally held firearm slant to the editing, and anything said by Tom Clonan, who has practically worn out the word "weapon". Legally held firearms are used legally, in various sporting ways either predator control, game/clay shoots, target shooting etc. You simply cannot be licenced to hold a "weapon" legally as "weapons" are used to hurt people :censored:

One of two things are up with Tom Clonan. Either he's incredibly against "civilians" holding any type of legally held firearm, or, he was asked certain questions and the parts of hos interview were cut and edited into the reporrt to suit the negative slant.

I'm not writing to RTE, it's obvious to me by letting out this manner of factually incorrect and blatantly editorally aint firearm bias that I may as well talk to the wall. I will however be writing to the Broadcasting Complaints Comission.

great link John,

that guy conlon was outrageous,"it's only a matter of time before one is used in a school"

Des Crofton is a great spokesman, the whole program shows that despite co-operation from shooters these guys can edit anything to suit their own needs.

you could imagine what they'd do with a hunting scene :icon_eek:

Hi Bryan,

Yeah that was the first time I saw Des Crofton in action, seems a very approchable and capable guy indeed, I was impressed. I for one will never be co operating with any media type if ever the situation arises. I doubt they'll get into Tullamore range again either, which is where I presume some of the filming was done.

I've written my letter, getting it checked out elsewhere at the moment. If anyone else wishes to write in complaint then please do, just remember not to lower the tone and to keep to the facts, thanks.

i cant even get that with my co2 semi auto which has no recoil......the vidoe really made me sick!!!!!!! legally held firearms account for about 1% (maby less) of the overall gun crime.....SO WHAT THE FK IS HIS PROBLEM!!!!! only case he can make is to ban people!!!!!!!!!

99% unlicenced firearms are doing the damage to the the licenced minority, it think the RTE are very biased on the matter of gun's alway's toting negative press and never the positive. for example the winnings of irish citizens at international shooting compitions.

What's with the iraq statements........FFS.

Mindless. We all have to strive to make them WRONG in what they say. I'm a law abiding citizen so don't tar with with the same brush as that of a criminal........................ :gunsmilie:
