danny boi 0
just woundering if anyone has any advice for me. this week we got a 6 week old pup she's fellxbeaglexrussel don't intend on working was a bit more of a rescue. the thing is my 3year old beddy whippet is acting really strange! at first it was as if she was terrified of the pup and wouldnt even come in to the room the pup was in she would sit infront of the livingroom door dribbling!! shes got a little better with her now they can be in the same room but as soon as the pup comes anywere near the lurcher she growls and bears teeth, at first i thought it was her putting the pup in its place but its gone on for a bit too long now! i keep having little introducing sessions in the garden with the 2 and the lurcher is getting a bit better and its as if she's trying to play and the pup is being submissive with the lurcher having a good sniff but when there back inside the same happens pup goes near the lurcher and growling snapping and barking again! the thing is now aswell one of our yorkies is growling and snapping at the lurcher when it has a go at the pup! any advice would be greatly appreciated cheers dan Quote Link to post
bird 9,967
Get your self a [ CAGE] , put it in there. Let the other dogs come to it in there own time. It could take a month or longer, so just keep the pup safe till the other dogs accept it. I had a old bitch [ lurcher] and she was a fecker with pups, once i had a bullx pup and it took 5 weeks before the old bitch would even look at it. But one she liked them, she was fine . Rolfe 2
Try letting them all out together in the garden.........or if it is fully innoculated taking them out over the fields together, although it won't be fully innoculated at that age. It maybe the lurcher feels its territory has been compromised...........neutral ground should soon sort it out. Quote Link to post
