rat trapping a wee job

Recommended Posts

Went to take some eggs down to the local garage in the village down the road (last friday)and ended up with a trapping job

We were standing in the kitchen with the door open when the lady of the house turned round and said have you seen whats come back, i looked around and saw nothing but then 3 rats came out from the dyke ran across the garden and started eating what the birds had throwen of the bird table only about 5 yards and away,i thought to my self what cheeky little feckers

I offered to bring some live catch traps down that very afternoon also the terrier and air rifle to which she agreed

I set the traps and told her not to expect them in the traps straight away as they would be shy of new things, took the terrier round the dyke it was marking like crazy but unless i had a ferret the terrier would be no use

I told her if she caught anything in the traps to let me know and i would come down and dispatch them either by terrier or gun.

I went down a couple of days later still nothing caught but she said that they had been entering the traps but not going all the way for the bait so i told her to give it time they will go in there own time

So on friday just past i went to take her eggs and ask how the traps were doing ,she had a big smile 3 rats caught, her husband had managed to dispatch them but there were still at least 5 young running about so i told her just keep setting the traps.

I am going to head down when i have some extra time and sit with the air rifle as these rats are not shy.

I think i am catching the bug to do more trapping and i am going to invest in some fenn traps but does anyone know of a good site with some decent priced ones as i priced some in town and they were nearly £9 for one a bit steep i thought
