FOXHUNTER 5,021 Posted May 18, 2008 Report Share Posted May 18, 2008 Gummy Hodgson a well known terrier man from the North East always kept a pet fox , I once was at his house a lot of years ago and I couldnt believe my eyes it was like a pet dog. He had a big pen in his back garden and used to let the fox out on a night to wander the village , no-one ever touched his pet foxes as all the local dog lads knew it was Gummys !!! And saying to him " why take a fox to a car boot" well ask youself why you would take your dog to a car boot. But, its better being his pet, than roaming the country side. He was telling me he is a keen shooter but has taken this fox in and wouldn’t be able to shoot a fox again now. He treats it like a family dog. My partner said (nasty shit lol) he could shoot it as look at it without a problem. And I thought I would agree but on seeing the fox all cuddled up in this guys coat got me all soft like I get when I see a puppy (lol)what do you think isnt it illegal to have a PET fox??????? I believe mankind should be allowed to show kindness and compassion to whatever creature he chooses. An interesting is an indigenous people in one of the rainforests (I am not sure). They shoot monkeys with poison darts and eat them. They will keep the orphaned babies for pets if they are old enough to survive. It is also probably one of the means mankind came to dometicate wolves; finding a litter of orphaned cubs. It is in the nature of most animals to nurture infants. I know of many dogs who have accepted kittens as their own. If the fox cub makes the man happy and gives him joy, whats wrong with that? Quote Link to post Share on other sites
BlueCoyote 0 Posted May 19, 2008 Report Share Posted May 19, 2008 the problem is that a lot of people think that because they hunt it then they must hate it and constantly pursue it. its like its an enemy even if it no longer means them any harm. i dont have issues with squirrels like you guys do. they're all over the forests on my property. we have tons of hickory trees, berry bushes, pine, etc. its squirrel paradise here.... and only "problem" i've ever had was the one orphan, and the occasional squirrel eating rabbit food. but thats ok because that just means i wont have to walk so far when hunting season comes around. i dont have a problem with being compassionate with wild animals. but i do have a problem with people feeding wild predators because they think its cute. i know a lady who was feeding a pack of coyotes outside her back door. she thought they were cute... she stopped putting food out when one ran away with her miniature poodle.... did she stop because of the danger of a yote running off with her two year old? nope. she didnt think they would do that! coyotes "fear people!" .. thank God they got the poodle first, and not the kid. at the same time my grandad found and raised a coydog. sweetest little thing in the world but as she got older she got crazy and would snap at anyone out of fear.. even if she knew that person her whole life. i also know of another person who raised a white tailed fawn he found without a mother. he CLAIMS the mother was dead.... but i have my doubts. this deer, as she got older, would try to play with the kids in the neighbourhood. how do fawns play? they rear up and hit things with their feet right? well... that doesnt go over so well with four year olds. most parents dont want their kids to have their skulls bashed by a friendly playful deer. its a calculated risk.. raising a wild animal. the risks will eventually outweigh the perks of "an exotic pet" Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Fortunately, most people grow out of the " The more things I can kill with my rifle or my Dogs can actually kill 'for me', the bigger and harder my dick will feel, to me. " syndrome. Unfortunately, it can take thirty years or more for some people to mature to that level. Tragically; Some just never develope ~ I suspect it's linked to testicles.
