never heard of the term jukie pip but i have had experience of a terrier that was a jukie,as you say. the terrier in question on this dig kept going in and out of the hole going to the same spot. when it finally stayed put and i dug down to it he was lying still, i thought he was in grips, when i pulled him back he just slid towards me! he was actually sitting about 2 or 3 foot back and watching. had no intention of harassing his quarry. i never worked him again. i wouldnt keep a jukie in my yard.

then heard of dogs just lieing back as you say but wont let anything get passed them there the best you can get
doesnt sound like a great dog to me t-man i imagine :whistling: it would be useless in a lot of situations if im reading that right.
we call it peeping...there as good as tits on a bull
ah paddy where not on about ferreting :whistling:
  must all you know about.Since your classing a wanker as a good dog  :11: ..,nly messin bud ;)
nope i didnt class a wanker as a good dog a dog that sounds and mixes well can be dug too all day long there good and if they lay up i couldnt give a lighting F*ck tbh what way they work once when you dig down the game is there and you can get it out thats all that matters at the end of the day why else would we be diging if we didnt just care about this!
i'd class them useless if there staying about a foot and a half away from quarry ...with a good dog they'll be only 4/5 '' away from quary (sounder) and once you break in the dog grabs a hold your then on top of the dog and quarry your not looking up into the pocket seeing the dogs ass facing ya and he out of reach..

had a small black bitch bred of good stuff but would do what you described and just lay their looking at the gear but not mixing or baying as some one said earlier dosnt matter with todays locators but what happens when your kit breaks in the feild and a silent dog is to ground thats why these dogs were called sounders that was their job as for bitch mentioned above tried her a few times but still the same not my cup of tea so she had to go dont know if size had anything to do with it but sheas a small bitch and very slight built though saying that have had small dog before who made plenty of noise
