JUKIE DOGS???????

WELL LADS I HAVE BEEN THINKING OF SOMETHING FOR A WHILE NOW ABOUT JUKIE DOGS.BY THIS I MEAN DOGS THAT MAYBE LIE WAITING FOR A HOLT SILENT.

MY MATE HAD A GOOD TERRIER WHICH HE HAD HIS DOUBTS ABOUT AS HE RECKONED IT WASN T AS HARD AS IT SEEMED FROM ON TOP.THE DOG WOULD LIE WATCHING WAITING NOT BARKING THEN CHARGE,SPIN RETREAT AND HAVE ANOTHER TASTE.

I MET A MATE WHOS JUST OUT OF HMP AND IO ASKED HIM ABOUT A BITCH PUP I GAVE HIM ABOUT 8 OR 9 YEARS AGO,HE SAID HE HAD DUG IT A FEW TIMES BEFORE IT WAS A YEAR OLD BUT FOUND IT JUKIE?

ANOTHER LAD MENTIONED A WELL BRED DOG WHICH HE RECKONED WAS A BIT JUKIE ,STILL YOUNG THOUGH.

 

NOW MY QUESTION IS CAN YOU DEEM A DOG JUKIE WHILE SO YOUNG AS I RECKON A LOT ,IF WE COULD SEE IN THE DARK WOULD BE THIS WAY WHEN CONFRONTED WITH WICKED QUARRY.

 

JUST TO CLARIFY IM TALKING ABOUT ANIMALS THAT ARE SILENT GIVING THE DIGGER THE IMPRESSION THEY RE IN HOLTS BUT ARE ACTUALLY SITTING BACK SILENT DODGING ETC.

HARD TO EXPLAIN BUT IM SURE SOME HAVE CAME ACROSS THIS STYLE OF WORK.

then heard of dogs just lieing back as you say but wont let anything get passed them there the best you can get

doesnt sound like a great dog to me t-man i imagine it would be useless in a lot of situations if im reading that right.

Have come accross it before pip but with some when ya sink the bar ya can hear them locked and the breathing pure heavey then heard of dogs just lieing back as you say but wont let anything get passed them there the best you can get they get marked up and only when they mixx when they need too!

if a terrier is sitting back like that and knows there is quarry up in front of it it does not want it

Pip I see your point,but with the locators we have in this day and age I don't think a quiet dog is anyting to worry about that is if it bottles it's game in the pocket and stays til dug to.Every dog works it's quarry in a different way. JMO.

i had a red dog like that... it was hard to know what he was at and when you dug to him he was usually sitting too far off to be any good... i like a dog throwing a bit of tongue... even with todays locators you will always get a time when it fails and then your left hoping to hear a sound to let you know whats happenin!! but at the end of the day if i was gettin results with the dog then i wouldnt care...

WELL THE LAD WHO OWNED THE DOG NEVER BRED OF IT BECAUSE OF THIS BUT WAS A DECENT ENOUGH DOG,JUST DOUBTED THIS BEHAVIOUR.

IM TALKING ABOUT ANIMALS IN THEIR FIRST 5-10 DIGS,IV E SEEN IT HAPPEN WITH SOME DOGS BUT THEY SOON CAME ROUND ANOTHER NEVER AND WOULDN T HOLD WHEN THE STUFF CHARGED??PTS.

I THINK ITS A SIGN OF LACK OF GAMENESS OR KEENNESS AND IS A HALF WAY BETWEEN WORKING AND QUITING.LACK OF FIRE SURELY.???

how would you know when the dog was on? when would you start digging? they need to be doing something

with a dog like that you would just be findin a mark with the box and then testing to see if he stays a while, after that you would just be hopin for the best...

AS I SAY ITS A NEW FRASE TO ME I ONLY SEEN IT A FEW TIMES IN PUPS BUT THE MAIN POINT WAS THAT CAN YOU SAY A PUPS JUKIE WHEN HE S ONLY SEEN A FEW ,I THINK IT TAKES A GOOD FEW DIGS EVEN SEASONS BEFORE A DOG WORKS OUT WHAT WAY TO WORK.THEY RE ALL DIFFERENT BUT LYING SKULKING NEARLY TO ME ISN T A GOOD SIGN.

Every terrier has a fault of some sort. If it doesn't then your the first man to have the perfect terrier.

But this is a fault that leaves absolutly no room for any other fault.

But if your getting your game most times you put him to ground (as long as it's one hole most of the time) then he sounds like he has his uses.
