moxy 617
What does the farmer farm?? I think that the answer to the duties you will be undertaking will be within the above question. I can assure you that you will work your nuts off, All year round and it will either make you or break you. Early starts and late finnishing (especially during the summer months). The thing is farming isnt just a job, its a way of life. You can be assured that you will never be bored as you will always be doing something different. Would you want to be stuck inside an clean, dry and air conditioned office for only 8 hrs a day? Or do you want to work all the hours god sends in all the elements that mother nature sends? A little food for thought and i hope it helps Good luck

Tis TM 8
Dont get me started on farming!! ex farmers wife..... note the EX!!! lol
TerrierLad 0
lol didnt work out to well then, what iv tried explaining is its basically farming or plastering, plasterings good money, but for how long?? its all about supply and demand the prices for plasterings falling year by year meaning plasterers have to work harder and harder so basically, i wouldnt mind a country job such as farming and iv been given the chance. but.. after my apprentiship will i be a farm hand or actually have a role to fill hmm lol Edited May 16, 2008 by TerrierLad
borderboy 80
Just think where you want to be in ten fifteen years? and that should give you your answer...!
moxy 617
too the comment about never being bored always doing something different compleat nonsence its get there 7am feed calfs feed sheep feed heifers feed bullocks feed main sukler herd lunch muck out sheds bed down sheds its the same grueling jobs everyday dont get me wrong its better then school but i wouldent go into it Nowt but a barrow boy then!!! What happens in the summer months? Do you not turn out the livestock? What about running fence repairs, drystone walling general maintainence around the farm, drainage, livestock health, etc etc and dont lets get started about crop yields and haylage. How about tractor and machinery repairs and maintenence? The list goes on. How could this be mundane and be classed as boring? Yes if yer heart isnt in it. but your only a young boy (no offence meant) and you have a lot to learn. Its not for everyone i know but do we all want to be office workers and porn stars LOL
