stubby 175
Try contacting Scottish association of countrysports(SACS), they are very good. you can only use their basic public liability insurance, if your doing the job FREE OF CHARGE, otherwise you'll need a small buisness insurance, expect to pay around the £130 mark per year make sure you do a course on the bird identification, as theres only a couple of the gull family that your allowed to cull as a pest species to start off, Id suggest a daily rate of what you'd be willing to work for, rather than trying to price individually
Rolfe 2
If during your work you come into contact with members of the public........then public liability insurance is a must. You will need to be protected if the unthinkable happens during the course of your work and you have an accident involving the general public.

moxy 617
Working at heights would be a place to start, Safe use of ladders, Bird proofing and installation techniques. General licences from english nature You will need to do training courses to be able to purchase and safely use insecticides/rodenticides. This training will be vital in obtaining the relevant insurances. Contact somebody like Killgerm or Barretine, Do some training and im sure that they will be able to answer most of your questions. trappa 518
I pay £400 for public liability just for jobs (bradshaw = bennet) but there is cheaper. Working at heights will cost you a good bit extra. The harris will be 4 figures to insure against the public , the gun i dont know- doing jobs for free would be covered by basc im guessing. Like its been said, make sure you know what your doing- some gulls are protected.. Make sure you have correct paperwork. You will need safety data sheets for just about everything, risk assessments on jobs etc etc. Not trying to put you off but it costs a lot and you NEED to make sure your above board in case it goes tits up.
