Guest manda
the owner of the car will get the points unless you say an insured driver was driving it at the time
gwhite80 0
Unfortunately law was changed to allow them to "hide" and now don't need to put up signs or notices either (sh!tes that they are). Found that out when they got me in Fife. 4mph over limit, challenged it and was thrown out of court, so long as the officer is on duty and the radar is within service (calibrated) they can do you at any time - B*strd's Edited May 14, 2008 by gwhite80
maty j 6
BlueCoyote said: some states give the cops a QUOTA!! they must issue a certain amount of speeding tickets per month. which is just criminal.... and i've heard of some cops just being ass holes and taking out on the driver. my husband was in a school zone at night - speed limit is different when school traffic is heavy! there was a tractor trailer parked in front of the school zone/speed sign so he was doing his normal limit when the Bitch Cop pulled him over for speeding in a school zone. he went to court to contest it and won.... but still had to pay $200 for the court's time.... and another time while on the way to work husband was driving.. we were going to be late because the cars in front were going waaaaay too slow even for the speed limit - which was 60mph- so he passed them both. oh jeez wouldnt you know, one was a cop. we got pulled over and cited for going too fast for unsafe conditions.... yes it was foggy and raining a tiny bit. while passing my husband had to speed up slightly because of oncoming traffic being a danger... THATS why we got pulled. that cop was just being a prick and going slow on purpose. my husband went to court to contest it and won. but this time the cop didnt show up.... nope! they met a few weeks later and discovered they both loved antique cars and became friends ...men... yeah, thats what the woman said when the person who got done for being 2mph over the limit said - he must not of had his quota for the day so got you being 2mph over! i've heard alot of times that the cops never bother showing to court in the us, dont know if it would be the case over here but id rather a heavyer fine (or court fees) than the points. i dont know if you have heard but over now there even hiding coppers with lidar guns in horse boxes and just parking them at the side of the road!! still think its best if you have some form of defense by the time the insurance has gone up and if you get another few tickets it could be end of license, job etc. of course its best not to speed but when there playing dirty
Guest JohnGalway
Little sympathy from me to be honest. Not because I've never been caught for a traffic offence, I have, I got my fine and my points. I broke the law, got caught and paid the penalty. That's life. If it's the worst thing that happens to you all week aren't you lucky?

If it's the worst thing that happens to you all week aren't you lucky? thats the truth lol! there is an old movie from the 60's/70's called Gumball Rally.... one of my favourite quotes in the film is "55 mph.... slow enough to get you there, but fast enough to get you killed" or something along those lines.... the law is only there to keep speed demons from flattening innocent bystanders. we have a five mile leeway here... or roughly that depending on the mood of the cop. the general rule of thumb is you can go on the interstate but you cant go 81.. even though the limit is 75. lol how many have ever gotten pulled for going too slow??? i know it happens! impeding traffic! usually happens to Volvo drivers over here
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Why all the hystrionics? Listen; Just step away from ye keyboard. Pop along to the court. Stand up before the magistrate and yell; " F*ck The Law! Born To Break It! ". Situation sorted

Halfinch 51
I think you'll find that if you are caught on a gun the police need to stop you to issue you with a ticket, no case later on as no evidence it was you or your car, speed camera's are different, they got a picture of you, or your car. Don't think you'l hear enything, but if you do, it MUST be within 14 days, or the case will be thrown out.
BlueCoyote 0
what about stop lights over there? or do you have those? seriously i dont know.... over here if you run through a red light they'll take a picture of your tag and mail you the ticket lol

gsi2000stokie 5
if anybody get pulled by the fuzz for speeding in any way be it with a gun or being paced' never ever admit to it. reason being is that the guns arnt legally a proper way of catching ye speeding and they need ye to say that ye were doing just 1 mph over the limit and you have just admitted to speeding. same with being paced. if theres no camera in the car then theres no proof and they need ye to admit it. even just by 1mph over and ye screwed. best thing to do is just say ye were only doin 30 and that they must be wrong. or there equipment is faulty. its the same with the gatso's speed cams. they can only legally stand up in court as evidence if your flashed from the rear. and also there has to be signs with the pic of the camera on that road for it to also stand up. and it has to be a certain type of camera. the sign thing is also the rules for the so called saftey camera van (money earner vans i call em) there has to be a sign of a particular size and colour on the road in plain view of the motorist. I ADVISE EVERYONE TO BUY THE MOTORISTS BIBLE. ITS GOT ME OUT OF A WHOLE LOAD OF SHIT!
