True,i have used this trick to great effect.Call them in with a decent mouth call from a distance,once they get closer change over to the squeaker and it works well..Also,to go back to the polystyrene posts,it does work reasonably well. We used to use it in calling foxes when up on the mountains,by scraping solid small blocks on the windscreen of the hi lux,gets them interested a long way away,but once they start coming stop using it,change to a different hand call,we found that it would put them off once they got closer. But to be honest,you should really be able to call with your hand and mouth,its not hard,and i bet ive called in more foxes doing this than any other caller ive used,PLUS unlike the huge amount of calls some lads i know take with them clanking about,its totally silent!!! Practice.

for the best results leave the mirror on the lorry and head it down the back roads doing mph. your bound to kill something

The hand and mouth method is probably responsible for calling in more foxes than any other BUT try doing it on a warm night, just after reaching the top of a long steep hill, over rough terrain, carrying a dozen rabs on your back and carrying a gun and maybe sticks and a lamp. Mouths pretty dry so a caller is bloody handy to have.

The small round ones are abou t 4quid delivered from Ebay. Might as well have one for the price of a pint or so of beer. Cheers, D.

ive used the squeaker out off toys loads of times and they work good for giving a good loud squeak on the windy nights at first to get the foxs attention then you can swop to your hand or just cover the squeaker with your hand and vary the stregnth of the squeak cost nowt just go pet smart and take them out when no ones looking lol

Sorry guys, I should have been a bit clearer .(just read my original chapter and pissed myself laughing at the reply's) I didn't mean that the lorry wing mirror was attached fu**in' wholesale, arm and all!!

The old type wing mirror could be stripped, beading removed and "THE GLASS ONLY", could be Duck taped onto the side of your battery box, leaving your hands free.

Your quite right, it works better at longer distances, and the lip 'n' hand works better at short distances. Whichever way you choose, as long as it works for you, that's the main thing. Sorry for any confusion caused
