hob trouble's

Recommended Posts

hi there, umm i am new too this forum but have had ferrets now for a while. i had a jill which i worked- she was a great little worker and a hob, which just slept all day!!!!! any way back to my question unfortunatley the jill past away for no reason about 2 months ago and i rescued another hob from the same breeder i brought my last one from, and convientley they were born as brothers but never really saw eachother  so i thought that they wouldnt fight but oh no i was wrong  anyway i put them in my hutch together and they cant stop fighting and it is starting to get seriously out of hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! both havnt been castrated cos i lend them out to stud  but i was wondering what would be the best thing to do??????

much apreciated if you could advise me :)

cheers

could do but they would get mega lonely. i was thinking of getting rid of one and getting a good old working jill again but i cant decide.

The loneliness would be temporary, spend time with them each day.

are you going to use them for breeding if not why dont you think about getting them castrated ( think i spelt it right )

i could do but i make good money by studding them and i think around my area its like £50

well the least you can do is get a second cage if there making you 50 quid a shot stud fee :whistling::hmm:

christ, I think I'll give up work, and become a stud ferret manager at £50 a throw

as suggested, get another cage while they are in breeding season, getting rid of one and getting a jill, aint a good option, as he will rag her silly, and once she's pregnanant he wont stop, so you'll still have to seperate them, and your back to the answer of "but they will be lonely" again, as stated, seperate them, and spend more time with them

That makes a lot of sense. If I was you; Albino Hob I would take that advice.

why dont you let the hobs get on with it, let them fight and give them a few days and they will be fine AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT DRAWING BLOODFROM EACHOTHER

cheers

So will castration stop these boys fighting?

I have the same problem and bought another hutch the other day, one has some nasty wounds on the back of his neck. I'll separate them today and have found a vet to neuter for £35.00 each if this means they will live peacefully together all year then I will get them done.

I'm glad that this post was put up

castration, will stop them fighting, we have a castrated hob "buster" who's still a good worker, so nothings changed there, just mellowed him out a bit more,
